How to encrypt data

Hey there.. I am pretty much a beginner at all of this, and have set up everything so far by researching it and reading different posts around the internet. After a lot of trial and error I have finally managed to activate port forwarding, so that I can connect to my server from outside of my home network. However my issue is that at this moment, this is not particulatly secure as my ISP for example could possibly see all my data. I have virtually tried anything but I just can not for the life of me figure out how to set up either a VPN connection for the TNAS that encypts my data, or get an SSL certificate or a reverse proxy. I have tried all of the tutorials and what not I could find on the topic but they never seem to be applicable to my specific situation, which is an emby server running directly via my Terramaster NAS. Most of the explanations I have found were about Web servers, or servers running on windows, or via docker on the nas etc. Now I do know that it probably is basically the same but I really can not figure out how to do it, no matter what I do.  So in a last ditch effort, I am trying to get some help or answers on here, which I usually never do. I would  appreciate it if you could help me :)

I have also tried this step by step a few times, but the steps don't seem to match with what is actually happening on the "SSL for free" site: https://emby.media/support/articles/Secure-Your-Server.html

Would guess you would need a p2p vpn connection.

I think i finally got it to work. It says "https" now when im checking the dashboard. Does that mean it is encrypted now?

Edit: just realised that I created two accounts because I thought I had forgotten my password for the first one. Please don't mind that haha
