FreeNAS plugin

Is it there? I didn't yet see this update still currently running on 3.1.0!?

I don't see it available either, though it is on my local repo.

Either the FreeNAS repo never pulled from my server (which is supposed to happen every night) or the updated files did not yet propagate across the CDN.

EDIT

I found the issue. I updated my FreeNAS which updated OpenSSH to version 7.0, disabling ssh-dss keys by default. This is the key type that the iXsystems server is using to connect to me with.

I manually enabled support for ssh-dss, and hopefully the files will be pulled tomorrow morning and be available.

Now I updated my Emby Plugin to 3.1.2 ;-)

However from the Admin Dashboard I cannot access the Plugin Settings (e.g. CoverArt or Vuplus) anymore!? Just nothing happens when I click on the "settings" if any installed plugin???

Thank you for the update.. I'll check the plugin section when I get home

Hi @josh4trunks Emby 3.1.4 was released today.

@@Luke will this version fix the issue of new seasons not being added to a series when using a flat file structure for TV shows?

I'm assuming that is what is meant by: "Fix virtual season creation"

@@josh4trunks EMby 3.1.5 has been released

Thank you Josh for the update. Currently, I see the 3.1.2 in the plugin directory but maybe in the next days or two, we will be able to see it.

Thanks

Thank you llygoden for letting us know.

I think josh4trunks is updating the jail for FreeNAS on his own free time.

Im sure hell get around to it when he finds time.

@@Eddie I'm just hoping that by @ing Josh he gets an email as who knows how often he browses these forums. I'm not meaning it to demand him to update just a nudge that a new version has been released, I very much appreciate all the work Josh does for FreeNAS and the Plugins.

@@josh4trunks Emby 3.2.1 has now been released

I know FreeNAS 10 Beta is out and it's possible josh4trunks is playing with that.... I don't think FN10 has jails anymore... instead it uses docker which emby packages directly and has the latest updates.... https://hub.docker.com/r/emby/embyserver/

Even if josh4trunks gets around to creating a new plugin once he moves to FN10 it's possible he won't be able to provide anymore plugins... docker is the future and you may consider using that instead of relying on Josh for plugins.... freenas 9.10 the latest version has docker available you may want to look into that.... the ONLY thing I like about jails is I think it's more efficient with using resources meaning... it uses the freebSD kernel and shares cpu and ram I think dynamically... if you use docker it creates a virtual container (with emby I think it uses ubuntu) I don't know how it manages resources between docker and freenas... I don't know if it dedicates hardware to the container or shares it m with freenas... if you have low resources as in the bare minimum like 8 Gigs of ram docker may be more taxing on that system... no idea who I can ask to clear that up... hope my rambling helps

hey guys, yes I have been getting email replies to this topic. and I will produce a FreeNAS plugin update when I have a chance, just been busy. for me Emby has worked as expected for so long now I haven't made it a priority to get/produce the latest updates. but I definitely can, maybe tomorrow night.

I have just been letting things in my life take property. hopefully soon I won't be as busy. and, no I haven't been testing/using FreeNAS 10. I think I'll stick with FreeNAS 9 uless they include proper jails.

I have very limited knowledge on jails and docker but is my assumption correct that a jail shares the resources compared to docker that allocates a fixed set of resources?

And if that's true jail would run better on lesser hardware?

If I wanted to create my own emby jail would it be as easy as using these commands in freenas 9.10 ?

https://emby.media/freebsd-server.html

Thanks in advance

yup those commands should work great.

One thing the the plugin has though, is a patched version of mono that has realtime monitor support. I really hope these patches get upstreamed to either the FreeBSD port, or to mono at some point.

Well I don't know how much knowledge is required to patch mono but... let's say I dont... in noob friendly terms... would I take a performance hit or lose access to features .. or lose stability?

you just would lose the realtime monitor feature. in my use case, where everything is automatically downloaded for me by sickrage/couchpotato, that just means I need to enable periodic library scans, or set those programs to notify emby when something new is downloaded

Hmmm... I'll look into patching mono then..clicking scan after dropping a file into emby everyone seems annoying... patching mono may or may not be over my head.. thanks again

you could also just have emby regularly scan the folders. But then new media won't be available immediately.

Well that sounds like a backup plan if I fail at patching mono.. ty

Version 3.2.1 was pulled from my local repo last night so it should be available from the official FreeNAS repo.

But, I don't see it from my home, so the CDN may be taking a while to update itself. =/

Sounds great... I'll check it out when I get home.... ran out of time trying to figure out how to patch mono lol.....

still showing 3.1.2 .... ill check it out tomorrow and keep you posted
