Have you tried using a VPN or TailScale to get around the CGNat?

No I thought I can make it with ipv6 with my router and Nas, don't like vpn

But if your ISP is using a CGNat then you don't have much of a choice but to use a VPN, right?

Somewhere in this forum I read it can be done with ipv6 but I can't find a guide

Please see here for some tips on TailScale:

So, i THOUGHT i would just be able to use my VPN, that i have had for 10 years, and get around the whole CGNAT issues with Starlink that way.  Nope!  So, my logical next step was to buy a business class account with them.  This provides a Public (but not dedicated) IP number.  They state it will hardly ever change, so its close enough to static for my needs.  So i now have taken care of the IP6 CGNAT problem.

So, because the Gen 3 Starlink router has NO port forwarding (can change DNS settings and that's about it) i am going to put it into bypass mode.  Basically, making it just a power supply for the dish.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a new router that i can use to replace starlinks?  That has excellent wifi coverage and allows me to take back control of my LAN (obviously needing port forwarding)?  I used to be cisco certified but most of that knowledge is now missing in a blackhole in my brain (thanks MS) so now a nice easy to understand GUI is highly preferred.  I have seen a lot of suggestions elsewhere but figured it would be better to ask for input here.

I have been reading a lot of reddit and so many posts about how to get around the CGNAT issues, but reality is i would rather just pay the extra money for a public IP and be done with it.  All the workarounds that need my family to download VPNS and or remote software and tunneling just isn't going to happen.

Pretty sure all i really need at this point is a REASONABLY priced router.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think in bypass mode will allow you with another router to port forward, still haven't find a solution, i tried plex and working fine, but don't like it

I am trying it with a public IP number with the business class priority 40G plan.   Bypassing all the CGNAT nonsense.  Are you doing the same?

Well, i am going to buy a router to bypass it and see how it goes.  Hoping with the public ip number that comes with the business plan should resolve the issue.  Plex does allow for IP6 connectivity.  But any users that wants to use your server also has to have IP6 connectivity at their location.  They also allow for limited data streams thru a proxy relay.  I do run Plex as a backup because a few family members are technically dumb as a box of rocks and never figured out connect.

I will buy a router tonight.  from recommendations here or by the poke and hope method.  Will report any new success or failures as i move forward.

https://github.com/mochman/Bypass_CGNAT/wiki <-- looks to be a good guide.

For router an old computer with two network nics and OpenWRT or PFSense is always a safe bet. OpenWRT has better wifi support according to most people.
A small mini computer for aesthetic and power efficiency reasons might be preferred. I haven't tried one my self but looking around it seems like a cheap Intel N100 one will work great, i plan to switch my own Ubiquity router out with one in the near future when i upgrade my network.

For a short while i used a Raspberry Pi 4 with an extra USB -> RJ45 and OpenWRT as a router for my 1Gbit line, it worked pretty well.

I can access EMBY now from a WAN connection!

#1:  I upgraded to the 40G Priority Business class.  $20 more a month than the standard home plan.  This provided me with an almost static PUBLIC IP number.

#2:  Get a router that you can use, i have a ORBI Mesh system now.  Most important part is said router must include port forwarding.

#3:  Put the Starlink Router In Bypass mode.

#4:  Connect your router to the Starlink. Assign your internal sever a static LAN IP number. Reserve that IP number in the DHCP settings or give the server a static IP number that is not in the DHCP range.

#5:   Port forward the port used by EMBY. should be 8096 unless you manually changed it from embys dashboard.

DONE!

The public IP number that is provided may change occasionally, but they suggest that it will only change during prolonged power outages, if you move your location (which is only a problem if you are roaming with the dish) and if they do software updates.  I have read that some haven't had the public IP number change in over a year.

There are a few ways that people are getting around the CGNAT issues with Starlink.  Did i want to give Elon another $20.00 a month?  NO!  But it seemed to be the more logical and simplest way, for me, to go.

That nice to hear! :)

From a security point you should look into getting SSL working though it will work without.
