Marthastewart 2 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 A few months ago Emby got updated for the Roku Sound bar. And I am unable to login. It sees the server locally - I enter username and password (logging in locally on the same subnet) - it fails. This worked great for a year, broke this spring. I have 3 other Rokus (different models) and there is no issue. I confirmed the credentials by logging into other Rokus. I also factory reset the Roku and reinstalled the app. How do I report this bug/get assistance?

Marthastewart 2 Posted July 11, 2024 Author Posted July 11, 2024 Hi. Exactly what happens? Hello, thanks for quick response. Launch app in Roku -> Please sign in: (my server name) ->manual login -> Enter Username (my username) -> enter password (my password) -> "Error - Invalid username or password. Please try again" On the Roku Emby screen says "4.1.22" Roku Model # 9102R Can you provide a server log from when this happens and the time you tried? I attached the most recent logs. I tried loggin in at 9:10 am 7/11/24 embyserver.txt
Luke 42077 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 HI, this is happening because you configured device access restrictions: 2024-07-11 09:08:51.492 Info UserManager: Authentication request for Andrew has succeeded. 2024-07-11 09:08:51.493 Error Server: User is not allowed access from this device.
Marthastewart 2 Posted July 11, 2024 Author Posted July 11, 2024 Thanks that is a much more helpful error message. How do I approve/add the device? https://emby.media/support/articles/Device-Access.html I don't see any unchecked devices in the list, and I don't see where I go to add the device. Server -> users -> Andrew -> Access -> (all is unchecked). I also don't see any alerts or activity on the dashboard allowing me to approve a new device.

When all is unchecked, this will require you to manually approve new devices that user. There are currently no alerts about this. (Ideally there should be obviously). I would suggest just keeping it simple and allowing access to all. If you want to limit their activity, the simultaneous stream limit is a better way.

Thanks for all the advice, how do I manually approve a new device? The device is called "Roku Samsung". But its not appearing in the list of devices. I would love to approve it! If I only I new how :)

You need to grant them access to all so that they can sign in, then it will be added to the list and you can restrict after that. But then going forward you have to remember this process whenever a user has a new device. 1
Marthastewart 2 Posted July 11, 2024 Author Posted July 11, 2024 Thanks, I appreciate the help in solving this problem. That process flow works for me, and I will use it moving forward 1
