swchris 2 Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 (edited) I've got a Raspberry PI 5 running the latest Raspberry PI OS (2024.03) I tried using the [generic linux](https://emby.media/emby-theater-linux.html#deb) install steps. There are no errors reported, and a shortcut is registered in the application launcher; however, when I try using it, nothing happens. No window, no error message, nothing in journalctl. I tried invoking from /usr/bin, and the only message is "Segmentation fault" I've generally known segmentation fault to be mismatched architectures, so I tried the 32 bit OS variant and observed the same experience as with the preferred (default) aarch64 build I've tried a few other distros; was able to get things working with Ubuntu, but it feels sluggish. Also tried DietPi, LibreELEC, and Volumio, but all had various deficits The RPI OS is super snappy and functional and I'd love to see Emby Theater work there Any ideas for things to try? swchris 2 Posted May 16, 2024 Author Posted May 16, 2024 Any update on this? I just tried installing to latest Ubuntu and also got "Segmentation fault"
Schebberle 0 Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 so tell me. what did you see when you looked inside?
exanime 8 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 I just wanted to say I tried this back in March and found the same issue. I am currently running Emby on Android TV 14 which is working well; however, I would much rather go back to the Raspbian OS as I am way more familiar with that than Android Thanks for your efforts

exanime 8 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 I tried with 3.0.16 I just checked and 3.0.21 seems to have dropped since I last tried. I will try later today and report back! Thanks 1
exanime 8 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Just tried with 3.0.21 on freshly installed and updated Raspbian. Same error with Segmentation-Fault

exanime 8 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 (edited) Pulled this Deb from the download section https://github.com/MediaBrowser/emby-theater-electron/releases/download/3.0.21/emby-theater-deb_3.0.21_arm64.deb Edited June 27, 2024 by exanime

exanime 8 Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Got to a text wizard asking for root password, username and such. Then it detected the SSID of my available WiFi networks, I selected and typed the passphrase. The system would take about 30-45 seconds and just ask for passphrase again I tried a few times, certain it wasn't a fat finger mistake but nothing The main goal would be to have a couple more things running on this pi other than emby theater, so I did not push more here thinking it would be best to go with the os install and then emby as a app. I'm away from home now but can try again with the image when I get back home Tuesday if that helps

exanime 8 Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Ok got to give it a quick try and can confirm the image does work. I can get it to connect to wifi, start an Emby Theater instance and connect to my server. There are a handful of caveats but most of them minor, I expect I should be able to address them in time: - cannot disable navigation sound (couldn't find a setting for it) - emby theater does not run in full screen (top bar is always visible) - no media keys are recognized (volume is the big one as the playback keys are rather easy to access just by navigating) I have this installed on a separate SD card so I can tinker with it later on while having a fully functional experience in an Android box. Once I attempt to address the small issues and install the rest of the apps I'd like to have in this box I will report back here

swchris 2 Posted July 10, 2024 Author Posted July 10, 2024 tried the [dedicated rpi5 image](https://github.com/MediaBrowser/emby-theater-electron/releases/download/3.0.21/emby-theater_3.0.21_rpi5b.img.xz) and it works great! thank you! 1 1
targetcom 1 Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 Hi All, I'm having so much trouble setting up this image. So first I tried installing it just from my monitor. Everything worked flawlessly the first time. Connected to the Wi-Fi, set up, started the interface, was full screen. The monitor was a small spare monitor I had and it was only 720. So then I moved it from that monitor to the main TV which is 4k. And the interface started and it was tiny, it was in the center of the screen and I couldn't get it to resize at all. Then I reflashed a new image to the nvme M2 chip in the Raspberry Pi 5 tried to set up directly from my TV, got to the Wi-Fi step and it froze, wouldn't move past that. Then I went and restarted the device, couldn't get the install wizard to start again. I tried all of the suggestions on chats and stuff, nothing worked. Reflashed it again, went back, tried to log in on the Wi-Fi. This time it had issue that the guy previously mentioned, which was it just kept prompting me for the password saying it needs authentication. Reflashed it again, tried again, same problem, couldn't get past the Wi-Fi password. Is there any way to resume the setup process? None of the suggestions on the internet work. How can we forcefully start the MBUI if it doesn't automatically start so that I don't have to keep reflashing every time a mistake occurs? Also are there any suggestions on a smooth install ? Im going to try with a wired lan connection later.
targetcom 1 Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 ok so connecting to lan was allot smoother. i still had the small emy screen but then managed to access the linux ui settings and changed the resolution to the correct resolution. just out of interest how is the new version of the linux app going is it going to be available soon ?
