I have the firewalls off on both machines and am unable to connect to my pc with the emby server. Any Ideas?

Trying to connect locally, Server ver. 4.7.14.0, Web client within my local network.

I try running through the connection troubleshooter now...

Hi there, what exactly happens when you try to connect? What Emby app are you trying to connect from?

If they are Windows machines, is the networking set to "Private" - because "Public" won't hack it...

On my local network, trying to connect from my laptop via wifi to my emby server which is connected directly to the router. Been working flawlessly until the most recent w10, and browser updates.

All machines are set to Private.

@Rob McChesneyPlease step through our Connection Troubleshooter:

https://emby.media/support/articles/Connectivity.html

Please let us know which steps succeed and which ones do not as that will help us narrow down the issue. Thanks.

After opening the 8096 port on the server,

I was able to connect by using the IP: http://192.168.86.XX:8096/web/index.html#!/home

But not from the main Emby Web interface (google chrome browser Version 118.0.5993.89😞https://emby.media/connect.html

This the Error I Get: We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again.

Thanks for that Steveo369, It does look to be a Chrome browser issue. FireFox works fine. For now I'll just bookmark my IP.

You should be seeing a more informative connection error message now  if you try again.

Try changing the https to http in the browser address bar and see if that helps.  Also edit any bookmarks you are using to start with http://

On Chrome, same was happening to me. Can confirm that changing to http instead of https fixed it.

@Luke is there is a fix coming, or is this working as intended on Chrome (or maybe I need to remove some extensions). :)

These are the rules of the browser. The best we can do is provide you with that information so that you can make the right choice.

But Chrome is working on a new permissions api where we'll be able to let you grant permission to access the http url, so once they have that ready we should be able to start using that.

(mini rant:)

Chrome is fast becoming unusable, and in such a way that users are liable to blame the websites rather than the browser.  I advise people to stay away from it.

I can agree,  at least when Firefox made the change to strict https they were kind enough to explain what changed, explain options, and whitelists for http, etc.

I brought a paid version of emby. It’s not working. I’m new to emby it’s my first time. I have iPhone 11.

And? So? Therefore? You need to provide a LOT more detail before anyone can help you and, probably, you need to read the documentation including the "Quick start guide" for Emby to understand how it works.

Also the iPhone is a client and you must have an Emby server running to use most of Emby's features.

What are you expecting it to do?  It has no access to any media until you provide it with details of the server you have set up or one that a friend has given you access to.  Emby themselves do not provide media.

Where do I get a server from my email that I use wasn’t registered either.

You do NOT "get" a server as Emby provides no content. Rather you build one and place your content where it needs to be for the server to see it. See the "Quick start guide" @Neminemlinked in his post above this one.

Also if you actually read the rest of Emby's documentation then most everything gets explained. Just go to https://emby.media/ and read what is there and you might understand what Emby actually does and does not do.

Emby is a client server system and you provide both the server and the client.
