Paul He's right about this. But you can also just use your built-in web app instead, which you've already figured out.
pwhodges 2012 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 That shows us that you are running your browser on the same machine as the Emby server, and it is behaving as expected. Paul

adamthayer 1 Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 To help narrow down the issue a bit, here's what I'm running in to, which sounds similar to the above: - Logging in using username/password on app.emby.media is successful, but when I select my server I get "Unable to reach (servername). We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again. - Attempting to skip and use IP address (both the local network address and the public address) give the same error. - Using localhost:8096 on the host machine DOES work - Using the app on Windows and Android both function correctly. It appears to be a specific problem using app.emby.media to connect. Let me know if there's anything else I can test to help narrow it down.

pwhodges 2012 Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Why are you even using app.Emby.media? You can already access your server directly, so what are you trying to gain? Paul

It also is a PWA which means it can be installed onto devices that support installable web apps.

What you see on localhost is built into your emby server installation. app.emby.media is our hosted web app. You can use whichever one you prefer. app.emby.media is usually a little ahead feature-wise, so whatever new development it has you'll get with the next release of Emby Server. Does that help?

Novadavdan 0 Posted February 16, 2025 Posted February 16, 2025 Check your server's LAN address in the Settings>Network section, or try accessing your router's admin panel to find connected devices and locate the one labeled with your server name.

If your connection keeps failing, double-check that your public IP hasn’t changed or that port forwarding is correctly set up on your router. Some ISPs block certain ports, so you might need to try a different one. If running a server from home is unreliable or too much hassle, dedicated servers for rent can be a good option since they offer stable connections and remove the need for managing network settings yourself.
