Hello, Not sure if I'm in the right spot. I'm fairly new to the forum and this seems to be the closest to what I'm looking for. I have followed the instructions, I believe to a "T" to set up remote access. When I type in the Remote (WAN) access: IP Address it just says, "This site can't be reached. Took too long to respond. Try: Checking the connection ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT" I had to set up the port forwarding on my router set up. I've tried accessing remotely from a windows 11 laptop and Samsung S20 FE(Android) Please let me know what info you would need to know in order to help me troubleshoot. I would appreciate it! Thank you.

@daveleeHi, so did you step through our Connection Troubleshooter?

Connectivity

Please let us know which steps succeeded and which ones do not. Thanks !

Ok. So I went back through the steps. I guess the one thing I'm unsure of is the start and end port. I've attached a screen shot to show what I have. What you don't see is my personal laptops operating address but that is assigned. When I chose both tcp and udp, it separated them into 2 different lines when I saved it.

From there, when I go to the canyouseeme.org it says it cannot. It gives me the same response as when I try accessing it on my computer with the remote ip address. They both tell me "connection timed out."

I'd be really curious as to what is happening.

I just found an option to share the connection under the wifi settings. I checked it. But it didn't change anything. I would also like to note, if I enter the In-Home LAN access IP address, I can get in with no problem. It is only remotely and apparently with the canyouseeme.org ?

What does canyuoseeme.org say if you ask it about the Emby port (8096)?

I just tried that as I saw it was Port 80 before. Same response for 8096. Connection timed out.

I took down all of my windows firewall settings to leave everything unblocked and still same results.

Can you access Emby from within your network, other than on the server machine itself?

Is your Windows networking set to Private (right) or Public (wrong)?

If you are referring to advance sharing settings in Windows, I currently have it set with network discovery/file and printer sharing turned on. password protected sharing is off.  This is how I have been able to allow communication between devices for transferring files.

If you are referring to the network in terms of accessing the IP address, that is not public and requires a password to connect to the network. If there is something I'm missing, please be more specific. Thank you.

I got it! I had to go in and add Windows Firewall rules for the IP Addresses and Ports. For some reason it was still blocking it despite me having them all set to off. Crazy! Appreciate the help!!
