Strange external connection issue

Hello!

I run Emby on external Linux server. For the past few days I experience a strange issue. I can't establish new remote connections, it says "Can't connect to the server". Same thing happens when I try to connect from http://app.emby.media, or even by direct link.

Strange thing is, previously established connections work without issue. IP wasn't changed. I tried reassigning my account in Emby dashboard. Also I've gone through user's manual (btw, http://www.canyouseeme.org/ referred to in the manual doesn't work any more). I run my server on a shared server; they claim they haven't changed anything in port forwarding.

Logs don't contain anything on connection attempts, so I gather they don't reach the server.

Can I do anything to fix it? Thanks!

Try portchecker.co as a replacement

I did. Unsurprisingly, it says,

Quote

Port 8920 is closed.

However, I open up my pre-configured client and continue watching a video like nothing happened - so I can connect to the server after all! Now that's a puzzle. 🤔

It almost looks like I have different settings in my client (for some reason) - so, IP and port from dashboard, that is supposed to work, doesn't work, and some other does... 🤯

Unfortunately I can't see what IP I'm connecting from - in "Emby for Kodi" there is only an option to create a new connection or remove the existing. Unless I'm not seeing something.

I've managed to narrow down the problem. At my friend's freshly installed emby server, he is offered an HTTP port which works. While on my server, after I added external domain and then removed it, HTTP IP and port got replaced with HTTPS in UI (dashboard, "Remote access" section), which doesn't work.

Using HTTP protocol and port instead still works, so I guess there's that.
