The existing server instal wasn't responding.  Message in dashboard suggested stopping the server and installing the latest version.  Now getting a "cannot be opened" message. (see attached) Any ideas?

Have you tried Right-click + Open, then choosing Open from the menu? That usually will let you override the macOS Gatekeeper. There's another way at the bottom of this link. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491

Bingo!  Thanks for the help.  FYI = right-click/Open didn't work but the system preferences route did.
