80srule 33 Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Im using Whatbox and want to try out the beta server. The instructions they provide dont offer the beta. Thank you
Luke 42078 Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 HI, can it run Docker? If so then you could use that.
80srule 33 Posted April 21, 2023 Author Posted April 21, 2023 I dont know I just know its linux. the insutrctions say https://whatbox.ca/wiki/emby And I figured just changing the url would work but not sure.
80srule 33 Posted April 21, 2023 Author Posted April 21, 2023 So what is the URL that I would need to use for the beta linux? You would want to change the URL from https://api.github.com/repos/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/latest to https://api.github.com/repos/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/tag/4.8.0.29 or whichever beta version you want to use. the one they gave does not work.
Luke 42078 Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Hi, beta instructions can be found on our website: https://emby.media/download But I don't have an answer for you regarding Whatbox. I have not familiarized myself enough with them to be able to offer much guidance on it.
80srule 33 Posted April 21, 2023 Author Posted April 21, 2023 I did that and I get a wget missing url. I dont see instructions there just the link which I did into the command line wget -O embyserver-4.8.0.29.zip `curl -s https://api.github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.8.0.29/emby-server-deb_4.8.0.29_amd64.deb | awk '/browser_download_url/ && /embyserver-netcore/ {print $2;exit}' | sed 's/"//g'` So what am I doing wrong here.
Neminem 1518 Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Why are you trying to download from https://api ? Click your own link, that goes to no where.
Neminem 1518 Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 The link you need is here Emby Server for Linux - Emby https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.8.0.30/emby-server-deb_4.8.0.30_amd64.deb
80srule 33 Posted April 21, 2023 Author Posted April 21, 2023 Yes and it still says get: missing URL Usage: wget [OPTION]... [URL]... Try `wget --help' for more options. im using this. wget -O embyserver-netcore-latest.zip `curl -s https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.8.0.30/emby-server-deb_4.8.0.30_amd64.deb | awk '/browser_download_url/ && /embyserver-netcore/ {print $2;exit}' | sed 's/"//g'` Because in the original info to download emby to the server it is listed as this wget -O embyserver-netcore-latest.zip `curl -s https://api.github.com/repos/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/latest | awk '/browser_download_url/ && /embyserver-netcore/ {print $2;exit}' | sed 's/"//g'` They said to simply replace the url with the one of the beta server I want. so that's what I did.

Thank you for the help. I had a dash rather than under score when running the install after download and I couldn't see it. Sometimes it takes someone else looking at it.
