Hi, I changed my PC, I was using a laptop and now I got a new desktop, I decided to run Emby server on the Desktop computer, laptop was too slow, I can connect emby app on my phone, most of the time, but I always get errors on Nvidia Shield and other Android TV apps, cannot connect, Volley error is the main reason, any help please? Thank you

Hi.  Are you sure you are using the proper IP address for the new server?

Hi, I could fix the issue. I found an article on the Emby community about the connectivity, the main problem was on the firewall so I just followed the steps and I could fix it. Than you so much

Sorry, Sorry guys. I know I said the issue was fixed, but there's still one of the android boxes app that cannot connect to the server, I already unistalled the app on the android box, but I always get the error Volley Timeout, I can connect on the phone and Nvidia Shield but nothing on the other android box

I started recently running into the VolleyError com.android.volley.ServerError: issue on all of my TV boxes (Android TV on two SHIELD Pro 2019 and Google TV on one onn 4k Pro).  I'm also running into the same issue on my Android phone (Pixel 8 Pro).  On the phone I get this error message:

"The process cannot access the file (file path displays here) because it is being used by another process."

I can't imagine what other process might be running that would interfere with the Emby server.  I'm running server version 4.8.8.0 (desktop) and have not had this problem before - it has shown up in the last week or two.  Currently, the only solution I've found is to shut down and then restart the Emby server.  It will run fine for a day or two (on average) and then the VolleyError comes back.

The boxes are running Emby for Android TV version 2.1.14g, and the phone is running Emby for Android version 3.3.95.  I've not tried to sideload the Emby for Android version on the boxes as I like the interface of Emby for Android TV better.

I see several log files in the desktop app but wasn't sure which one(s) would be of the most help.

@kjcraw4dOn the TV,  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

Thanks.

Hi.  Are you sure the address of your server hasn't changed?  Or perhaps an update added firewall rules?

I'll install "Emby for Android" and will see how things look/go.  Will need a few days to test it out.  Thanks.

Connectivity

The server is connected via ethernet to my GFiber router, so I don't think the IP address has changed - and I'm not aware of any firewall rules that might have been changed or updated.  I did open up port 8096 as suggested in the Connectivity link, so I will see how that goes.  I'm also trying out Emby for Android (not the TV version) on all three boxes.

So far, the issue has not reoccurred.  I'm still monitoring both Emby4Android and Emby4AndroidTV apps and will reach out if the issue happens again. Thanks for checking up on me. 😋
