Hello All,

First: to those developing this product - I am speechless.  MB has been a part of my life for 5 years now and I can't express my gratitude enough.  This product is absolutely amazing and a true testament to the virtue of open source development.  You have made the HTPC possible for countless people.

To the question:

I have a setup that requires an external encoder to watch live TV.  I currently use a Hauppauge HDPVR to render live TV in Media Center and use the ServerWMC to bring TV to MB3.  This setup is difficult to maintain and glitchy (no offense intended to those that worked hours to make this possible).  It does work.

My question is:

Is there a better way to do this?  Media Portal has a "Native TV" solution that lets you map multiple TV Servers and apparently supports HDPVR, but I have not attempted the laborious configuration because I want to stay with MB.  Your solution is much "sexier" than MP.  My locale rules out the use of cable cards, so I can't purchase a TV tuner with that built-in.

What would be the best option?  I want to abandon WMC altogether.

All feedback is much appreciated.

I have a Hauppauge Colossus HDPVR and it works great with ServerWMC. There was a special patch i had to use to get it up and running with WMC and after that it has been smooth sailing since. I have also tried LiveTV in the past with Mediaportal and if you are looking for a "not complicated" solution, dont go there... MP Livetv was very complicated to setup with a Colossus because its not like other tuner cards. I also used NextPVR which was very easy to setup and easy to maintain. So if you really want to leave ServerWMC, NextPVR should be your choice

NextPVR has good support for HDPVR/HDPVR2, and is already supported in MB3.

I have 4 HD-PVRs and I use DVBLink to get them to work with WMC.  Works great..  I used NextPVR and it was easy to setup.  I also have used Mepo with the HD-PVRs and it is not worth the effort.

Hmm personally if you ask me I like see it build in with out them using 3rdparty add-on app which are over kill and it over complexity setting.

SageTV and MCE are by far the easy to under stand TV setup wizard.
