The folder for Emby under /var/lib/. I know Emby can be completely removed to install a different version cause I've done it in the past when I wanted to test the beta, but Im not finding the thread with the appropriate steps.

would just as soon remove EVERYTHING and start from scratch.

Not sure what the platform is, but on linux debian package, you can uninstall and purge assocaiated data by running and then re-install and start a new setup

sudo dpkg -P emby-server

The databases and other emby configuration files are in /var/lib/emby

installed dpkg and ran the one command and remove Emby in /var/lib/, reinstalled and same error.

Did you shut down Emby Server before doing the uninstall and purge?

is this on ubuntu / linux platform?

When you re-installed and setup the libraries again, did you have any libraries with overlapping folder paths ? Overlapping folders - having both a folder and its parent or grandparent in media paths -

After uninstall and purge - check that this is empty or does not exist - "/var/lib/emby"

When install and setting up - make sure there are no overlapping folder paths

I'm in CachyOS (Arch based. Yea I did run sudo systemctl stop emby-server before attempting the uninstall. Then I removed the emby folder under /var/lib/. I get as far as having the login screen and when I click login I get the error right there. It's not defaulting back to the setup like it should.

These logs are from yesterday

The first log starting at 2025-05-28 10:34:06 is of running beta 4.9.0.60

The second log starting at 2025-05-28 13:09:25 is for rolling back to 4.8.11.0 from 4.9.0.60

2025-05-28 13:09:25.983 Info Main: Application path: /usr/lib/emby-server/EmbyServer.dll
. .
2025-05-28 13:09:26.097 Info App: Emby Server Version: 4.8.11.0
. .
2025-05-28 13:09:26.103 Info App: Updating pre-installed plugins due to server rollback. Last server version: 4.9.0.60. Current server version: 4.8.11.0

Can you repeat the steps of shutting down EmbyServer, checking with ps or top that the process is no longer running

Then do

sudo dpkg -P emby-server

capture copy of the terminal session screen to see what the dpkg -P did

Then do

ls -ail /var/lib/emby

and get screenshot of what is shown

If the files / folders still there, remove them and do another ls to confirm they are gone

Then download the 4.8.11.0 deb package

emby-server-deb_4.8.11.0_amd64.deb

Link https://emby.media/linux-server.html

and install

sudo dpkg -i emby-server-deb_4.8.11.0_amd64.deb

and this should take you to initial setup

Even though dpkg says Emby isn't installed as you can see from Pacseek emby-server is installed. Uninstalled it, removed the emby folder in /var/lib. .deb file won't install due to needing libc6 which doesn't seem to be available for Arch.

That screenshot  shows the "dpkg -P " faing because it requires priviledge to run as root

After that error, did you try

sudo dpkg -P emby-server

OK not sure how I missed running it as root. Rolled back to where the beta works. Think later I just want to try to figure out why the TV app isn't behaving with the beta, but will with the release version in Garuda. Might just be easier to sort the TV app.
