Cant sign into emby connect

Whenever I try and sign into emby connect, it kicks me back to the page where it says add server or sign in with emby connect. I have a user associated with my emby connect account but it still continues to kick me back to that page without an error message or anything.

Can anyone help me with this? I feel like it’s probably a simple fix but I can’t figure out what is wrong.

Hi, we need some additional info so let me ask a few questions:

Has this ever worked for you previously?
Is your Emby Server setup for remote access?
Are you trying this on the same LAN as your Server or are you remote from it?

If setup remotely do you use a DDNS service?
If not you might want to as it's easy to setup and then you likely wouldn't need Emby Connect.

Are you able to log into your Emby server using it's IP and the username/password as setup directly on the server?

I'm having the same issue.

New premium user, never connected via Emby Connect outside my LAN before and it works just fine on my LAN.

Emby Server running on Synology NAS. Configured for Premium, configured for emby connect, remote connections allowed, firewall is not set to block. No port forwarding is set up on the Asus router because as I understand to purpose of Emby Connect, it saves the user from having to set that up.

I have been accessing the server remotely until now by using my ip and port forwarding. I have had no issues with this it’s just when using Emby connect that it doesn’t work.

Do you have "Riptide126" without the quotes in your Optional Emby Connect field?
That would be your EC username as it's the same as the forums (so not a secret).

Password will be the same as used here as well.

Is that what you're using?
Actually you could also use the email address associated with Riptide126 as well but make sure you use what is filled in for the optional field.

You need to make sure ports are forwarded on your router correctly or no inboard traffic will make it to your Emby Server. If you stick with the default port of 8096 you should be fine but don't try to change the ports to 80 or 443 until you get it working correct with the defaults.  Reason is you will have an issue with the built in reverse proxy in DSM and will need to adjust it or it will forward your traffic to port 5000 (DSM desktop).

From your home LAN after forwarding tcp port 8096 open https://canyouseeme.org
Type in port 8096 and run a test.
If it fails there is still a problem but if it passed the test the port is open and remote access can work.

Then you can setup and use Emby Connect but I'd ask why you want to use it?  Likely your router has DDNS built in. But definitely this feature is built into Synology.
Control Panel, External Access, DDNS

They have a whole bunch of different services they can update for you or you can use the first one Synology which will be handled by them.  So if you were to choose synology they will ask you for a host name. If you were to enter "rip" then you would get a fully qualified domain as rip.synology.me.

You could then skip Emby Connect and it's management and just use port 8096 and rip.synology.me which is easy to remember and a whole lot less work.

I want to use Emby connect in order to use Emby home with my Google home mini. I have port forwarding setup with port 8097 because port 8096 wasn’t working.

Ok, I am home now and I have confirmed that I have username associated with the admin user on the emby account. However I still have the same issue of running into this loop. I go to sign into emby connect on my phone, I enter my username and password, and I am brought to a screen where it says sign in with emby connect and add server. If i click sign in with emby connect I am brought back to the login screen where the same thing happens again.

Hi, That sounds like you're using your local credentials when signing in via Emby Connect?

Do you know the username/password specific for Emby Connect and the username/password for local/direct login?

What happens if you select manual, then setup a new server on the android client using the name or IP shown for Remote URL in dashboard?
You would then use the username/password as configured on your server.

Does that work?

Well I am not entirely sure what fixed it but I think I may have just been a bit confused. I assumed that if I logged in using emby connect and it worked it would no longer show the option to sign in using emby connect and would simply show the servers linked with the account. I decided to just go ahead and try it again anyway and it ended up working so I now have emby home linked with my google home mini and everything is working fine.

Thanks for the feedback.

When I try to login with emby connect it just redirects me back to manual server page with emby connect login link. I can't seem to login either, just created my account "chovyfu" today.
