MBSki 1114 Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 I want to make sure I'm not overwriting all the selections I just made on all my tv shows. If I have it set to automatically refresh metadata, it isn't going to replace all of the images I selected is it?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Only if you select the option as the are two separate options.
MBSki 1114 Posted October 19, 2021 Author Posted October 19, 2021 Sorry, I should've provided a screen shot. I meant the setting at the library level.

MBSki 1114 Posted October 19, 2021 Author Posted October 19, 2021 Ok, and since there is no option to replace existing images, it doesn't replace them right?

MBSki 1114 Posted October 20, 2021 Author Posted October 20, 2021 I'm going through some of my kids shows right now and I'm finding quite a few of the thumbs missing now since I enabled "automatically refresh metadata" option. Here's an example. I have a thumb for Casper and the Angels, because it shows up in my library. But if I go to edit images, there's no thumb. So what happened? Did the thumb in Internet metadata get deleted from the source? How do I still show a thumb when that thumb is nowhere to be found? It seems to be ok since the thumb is somehow embedded in the Emby system, but it would be nice to know where exactly that image is.

Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 Well you are not showing the entire picture as it could be a backdrop, since if no thumb it will move to display first backdrop.

I would assume that that thumb is no longer available in your system. Edited October 20, 2021 by GrimReaper Append
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 Well that is something that is changing as we are removing language based backdrops provided from TMDB as all backdrops should be textless. And Luke will eventually map them to Thumbs. 2

Ah, interesting, I didn't know that. I'll just save the backdrop locally so it always pull the one that I want it to.

It's nice to have the text based backdrops in search, but only so I can save them locally as thumbs.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 (edited) Do you have the FanArt plugin? if so is it enabled? Are you receiving errors? As technically they are the only ones with thumbs. Edited October 20, 2021 by Happy2Play

Create a notepad file just for meta-data facts like the above and every time you post something like that add it to the notepad doc. In no time I bet you will have a lot of great information you could post that would help a lot of people understand Emby's relationships to it's Meta-Data providers and where info comes from as well as the unique things each provider can offer.

Images dependent on installed and enabled providers (FanArt/TMDB/TVDB/OMDB). Primary: all providers Logo: Fanart only, with future possibilities from TMDB Thumb: FanArt only, with future possibilities from TMDB language backdrops Banner: (Movies FanArt only) (TV FanArt/TVDB) Disc: FanArt only ClearArt: FanArt only Backdrops: all providers 1 1
MBSki 1114 Posted October 22, 2021 Author Posted October 22, 2021 @Happy2Play Is there any known reason why I get blank images when searching? Here's an example when searching for the Primary poster image. The last one is blank for some reason. Any idea why?

Would need to see the server log but pretty sure this is a defect of bad image urls from OMDB.
MBSki 1114 Posted October 22, 2021 Author Posted October 22, 2021 Ok, is it a different query than the artist images or should I try running that again?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 The odds are OMDB no longer has the image is has cached. As this is pretty common for OMDB. But would need to see the OMDB query.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 But looking at your example I am guessing it no longer exists or never existed as the Emby query is a image query by imdbid. OMDB Query There are a few topics on this but here is one. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/79120-missing-poster-art/ 1
