Hi, try using the drop-down menu to select your platform.

@Luke has the Debian deb package been tested on the new Debian 11 Bullseye that just came out a few weeks ago?  That's what I'm installing now.

Yes no issues on Bullseye.

Unfortunately, there are no linux distro's that support the latest Intel GPU's, because Intel hasn't released source code for their video drivers since 2018.

I'm stuck running windoze.  Oh well, that's what I get for buying the latest Intel GPU, hoping it would be supported in Linux.

The "linux instructions" refer to only an Ubuntu app.  Ubuntu isn't Debian.  Ubuntu apps don't install on Debian.

I hope that is not a true statement. My EmbyUpdate app installs the same package for Ubuntu/Debian/Mint and all the Debian derivatives, and has for years with no issues from any of my users. And I've installed many Ubuntu apps on my Debian installs personally. @Luke Am I correct in thinking this is true? It's the same file in the GitHub releases I use for my app from what I can tell. Or do I need to do some (more) rewriting?

Thanks!

LOL no I was mistaken.  My bad.  I didn't notice the drop down box to switch distro's.

Oh, I see your point.  Yes it used to be true, back in the day.  Ubuntu is not Debian is not Mint.  They each have their own repositories, each has different versions for each package.

If you are installing the same package on each of them, then you are incredibly lucky that they have the same versions.  DistroWatch shows the current version for each package for each distro.

It's been quite a few years since I was a hardcore linux head, but back in the day, what I said was very true.  Not sure about today.

We use the same .deb for both.

LOL, I'm running Cinnamon, on Debian, and I used to install lots of Ubuntu stuff. So my install is a mishmash of Deb/Mint/Ubuntu. It's Frankux! I used to even have several Ubuntu repo's in my sources list. But as 10 came out, and Debian was STILL so far behind many of the versions I need for my development work, I've just turned on backports, and I pull from upstream (testing), so I'm more or less in sync with Ubuntu packages now. I know that's... risky..., but I haven't had problems yet! You just wait, my server is going to melt after saying that.

Course my server is headless, I do have Cinnamon for when I want to RDP into the box. I've found MOST of the crazy issues with mixing distro's come up on desktop. Still love my Mint desktop on Debian tho.

Cinnamon Mint desktop on Debian?  Wow, that's cool.  Times sure have changed.  Ten years ago, that would've been insane.

You want insanity? I've had this same Debian install since Debian 5 Lenny. I wrote a script many years ago to take daily backups as I've spent 100's and 100's of hours getting this install just right. It's made it through 6 dist-upgrades, and 5 machines (3 desktops, and 2 R710 Poweredge servers). Same install, and never had an issue. It's had KDE, Gnome, and now Cinnamon as a desktop (not because I need or use them, but just because I can). I've got a flaky drive in my current R710, I've got 3 R710's and about 30 drives between them so when I finally get around to it it's going to get it's 6th machine migration. Needless to say, I'm a lifetime fan of Debian. I've used others in the past and had multiple duel-boot systems.

My only complaint is KDE became craptastic and I've never been able to fully uninstall it, and it makes Cinnamon flakey. The left over parts that won't uninstall screw with it. But that's ok, I use it like once every 2-3 years. LOL Gnome left pieces too, but they play nicer. The ultimate install for me would be a fresh Debian install with Cinnamon as the only desktop.
