roaku 836 Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Title describes what I want but also here are some web app screenshots: The Image editor for all the types under 'Images' has a wonderful selector that includes a 'Set Image from URL' option: The Backdrops section only allows for adding images by file upload: I'd like to add Backdrops from URLs please. 7 6
Happy2Play 9435 Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Technically you select browser and enter the url will do the exact same thing, as that is how it worked in previous design. But yes backdrops should have the same menu options as the test of the image types.

roaku 836 Posted July 3, 2021 Author Posted July 3, 2021 @Happy2Play Ah ok, that looks to depend on the OS file browser happening to support it. Available on Windows Explorer, not on Ubuntu's Files. 1
Painkiller8818 229 Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Also not working for me (MAC OS) 1
Luke 40018 Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Yes we should add this for backdrops. Thanks. 1 1
roaku 836 Posted May 14, 2022 Author Posted May 14, 2022 I requested here. We already have 3 whole votes: 1
chowbok 112 Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 All the image types let you add an image from a URL, with the exception of backdrops, which must be set from a local file. Is there a reason for this?
stephen_hill 43 Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 All images types, except Backdrops, allow uploading image from a URL: Please can you add the same options to Backdrops. Many Thanks Stephen 1
Happy2Play 9435 Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 @stephen_hill merged with existing topic. 1
RLanger7228 56 Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Another vote for adding URL for backdrop (I also have a MAC). I was thinking that you don't even need a dropdown menu. You could just have 4 icons across the bottom of each box: Search (magnifying glass), Upload (+ in a circle), URL (chain links) and Trash (trash can). Just make the background box equivalent to the other boxes.

darkassassin07 619 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 It looks like this does currently exist for backdrops as well, but you can only use it if you already have a backdrop to long-press/right click on. If you don't already have a backdrop, you have to use the search, or '+' icon to add one which then depends on the filebrowser supporting links as originally stated back in 2021. We just need a placeholder card to click on just like the other image sections:

"We just need a placeholder card to click on just like the other image sections:" - THIS. This is what's needed.
Happy2Play 9435 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Yes Backdrops needs a empty place holder like all the other image types to have all the same menu options.
