latest gb build has fixed my issue with gameboy colour but not the sega mega drive or psx

Delete your game.xml and gamesystem.xml files, then delete the library.db. Once the media has been rediscovered it should be fine.

MBS not showing a game & data for a SNES game. Noticed the file extension was ".fig". This extension opened in the SNES9x and also worked when changed to ".smc"

Never seen the .fig extension before, but it seems that it may just be an unusual SNES extension.

I dont have a gamesystem.XML file. I have console.XML files and some have both a console.XML and folder.XML?? Do these need to be deleted or is the console.XML what u meant by gamesystem. XML? Everything seems to be working fine for me even tho

if everything is working fine then don't worry about it.

Not sure if directed to me. Point was that the extension should likely be added as known. With many of my 700+ roms being with that extension it would only make sense for the plugin to recognize them as games. Otherwise the ability to play them and fetch of metadata does not occur.

No that was directed at BATTLE DONKEY. Sorry, when I read your message I had thought you had renamed your roms and moved on, I didn't realize you were asking me to include that extension. It will be in this weekends GB release.

As someone completely new to MB3, is their a how to on how to set this up, i can get the system to show up but not the roms. A guide if their is one would likely solve any issue im doing wrong or incorrectly.

Saw the latest GB3 update and tried once again to see if it would function (I posted earlier in this thread, never found a solution and gave up on this plugin being functional).  Once again I turned off the server, deleted the game.xml and gamesystem.xml files and the library.db. I've also deleted all game .xml files.  Started the server back up and after a library refresh I still have the same problem where the games are not being recognized.

Am I following the correct steps, or is there something else I need to be doing?  This was a nice plugin for the longest time but is completely busted now.  Will there ever be a solution, i.e., wait for an official, non-beta, release, or will this always be a problem for those of us that adopted early?

Just wondering if I should give up now.  Thanks!

there's a lot of people here that it's not busted for. maybe you should start from scratch and describe your problem as if it's never happened before, with examples, screenshots, logs, steps to reproduce, etc.

Sorry, I'm in the middle of writing a guide, but have been very busy this week. I'll get it out asap.

Sorry again.

Okay, here's my problem.  I went to sleep a month ago with GB functional, awoke the next day to an update that broke GB's functionality and have had this problem ever since (refer to pages 1-2 of this thread for my posts with those details).

1.  Individual systems show up just fine:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9945586/Screenshot%202013-11-14%2007.39.51.png

2.  Selecting a system, the individual game folders show up just fine:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9945586/Screenshot%202013-11-14%2007.39.56.png

3.  HOWEVER, if I select a game, I get nothing but a blank screen:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9945586/Screenshot%202013-11-14%2007.39.24.png

In my attempts to correct this and entice this plugin to be functional again, I turned off the MB server, removed the GB3 plugin, removed the games folder from the default media library, deleted all game and gamesystem .xml files, and deleted the library.db, per the instructions on page 1 of this thread.

Next, I started "from scratch", installed the plugin, added my games folder to the default media library.  I re-input each of my game systems both within the MB Dashboard and in the Media Browser Classic Configurator.

I have gone through this process twice to no effect.  If I attempt to access the game through the web interface, I see a similarly empty screen:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9945586/Screenshot%202013-11-14%2007.53.17.png

I would gladly post a log if I knew what log you need to see and where I could get it.

Thanks again.  While I'm sure this is working for lots of people, there's something key I must be missing in the process, because the update at the root of this issue broke everything for me.

EDIT:  I've seen Spanner's posts earlier in this thread.  If someone could tell me how to find the server log, I'll post that info asap.  My searches appear to be finding dated information for what assumedly are locations for this under previous versions of MB.

So based on the 4 images it clearly looks the server isn't seeing the game systems as what they are.

I definitely need to see a server log to see if there are any errors during load. The link Blue Kachina posted tells you where to find the logs. Now that you've deleted all those files and the library DB. I'd like to see your gamebrowserconfig.xml. It's in the mediabrowser-server\plugins\configurations directory.

My guess is that the collection in the library is not set to 'Games'.

Good catch. That might actually be it.

To set the collection to games (if it isn't) it'll need to be deleted and re-added.

@@tboneynot :

There's a sticky post in Knowledge Base/Tutorials & Guides/General that explains where to find a lot of the useful logs.

It also explains what settings you need to enable to get more detailed server logs, as well as how to post them to the forum so that they're easiest to read.

Thanks for your responses, gentlemen.  Apologies for the tardy reply, expecting a baby any minute and don't want to deliver this one on the kitchen floor like last time.

The collection in the library is set to 'Games', so that doesn't appear to be the issue.

Below is a link to the server log:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9945586/server-63520193975.log

I swear I've done everything on the list three times over, wiping everything clean and starting anew, and it's not helped a lick.  Thanks again for looking into this.

well that log was not as helpful as I'd have hoped, but it did have a little information...

First off. The log is an endless sea of errors when it processes your boxsets. I would remove all your collection.xml files because the server isn't processing them due to them being malformed.

More importantly the log confirms that your disc based games are appearing to be processed as if they were movies. So in order to try and resolve this, I'd like to see.

  1. GameBrowser.xml file located in %AppData%\MediaBrowser-Server\plugins\configurations
  2. Screenshot of the Default Media Library tab of the WebUI showing how your games media locations are entered
  3. Screenshot of one of your game platform directories in windows explorer showing me the folder contents in addition to your game folders.

3.  Screenshot of one of your game platform directories in windows explorer showing me the folder contents in addition to your game folders.

I have my emulators in one folder (F:\Documents\Gaming\Emulators), and my games in another (F:\Games):

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9945586/Screenshot%202013-11-17%2010.36.08.png

Here's a screenshot in one of my game platform directories (I hope I'm understanding that a game platform directory is the folder location of the emulator):

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9945586/Screenshot%202013-11-17%2010.40.50.png

If a game platform directory is instead the location where all of the games are located, here's a screenshot of where the games are located:

My apologies for not knowing the particular vernacular (google is my friend), but hopefully I've provided what you've requested.  If not, give me a swift kick.

Well I think we're finally getting somewhere.

You have added a game library ("F:\Games") to the default media library. Based on what you've said that's correct as that's where your games can be found.

In the GameBrowser server plugin configuration you have two systems defined, Nintendo and Super Nintendo. Those two system are pointing to the emulators. That is incorrect. The server plugin should be pointing to the game directories. The emulators themselves are configured on the mediabrowser client.

SOLVED.  Once I pointed the server plugin to the game directories rather than the game emulators, that solved the entire thing.

THANKS RED!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how does one structured his games in his library?

Is something like this good? :

<drive>:\Games\System\Roms\NameofGame\file.ext

I just want to make sure before I set things up.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

that would work I think. Something like \\server\games\nes\mario bros\mario bros.nes would be better though

Ah yes, I forgot that the prefer method is to use UNC share.

edit: And I see that the Roms folder was redundant.
