FWIW, I played three different items with 640 AC3 audio on my 2.gen FTVS with .25 beta and they played just fine.
It was AC3 though and not EAC3...

FYI
For me .26 seems to be fine in terms of audio playback.
AC3 up to 640 plays fine, EAC3/DTS is downmixed as I would expect.
Thanks for the improvement, now everything is direct playing and I can mux in the vobsubs again without fearing my server being stressed with transcodes.
