skank 83 Posted April 4, 2021 Author Posted April 4, 2021 (edited) Hi , yes sorry for that Emby next gen Play mode -> standard (normally with the old add on i used native path, but since the explanation said i shouldnt, i run standard now) It should passthrough Error from kodi says: one or more items couldnt be played, check the log..https://paste.kodi.tv/afohibatus Edited April 4, 2021 by skank
quickmic 1600 Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 Is this bdmv video playable by Emby server? If not, I'll put it as a fallback to native mode.

How do i know? I thought it was the shield, but it seems the shield can play it I tried native mode, but it doesnt play either
skank 83 Posted April 5, 2021 Author Posted April 5, 2021 i think it doest play I just tried it to play from my laptop/browser And it started playback SO i think thats the server right? (server here is on another unraid machine)
quickmic 1600 Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 If it's not playable via WebUI, Emby server cannot read the format. Maybe Kodi can play it, but you mentioned native mode is also not working. This means, Kodi is also not able to play the file. Best option would be converting/rip to a different format.
skank 83 Posted April 5, 2021 Author Posted April 5, 2021 Hey quickmic, pelase dont go that way, theres nothing wrong with that rip. It played before fine with kodi 18, and the oldy emby in native. So its truly not the rips fault Also its with all bdmv folder types not this just one It is by the way playable via webui, like i said in my previous post So whats wrong then?
quickmic 1600 Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 I'll try to find a bdmv sample and perform a test.
quickmic 1600 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 No, sorry I was very busy this week. I'll check it on weekend. 1
quickmic 1600 Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 (edited) I ripped a bluray to bdmv (folder structure) and performed a few tests. Emby server doesn't "see" the content, and cannot play it. (I'm running a new sync, probably it helps but I don't think so). VLC plays the m2ts file but also don't read the content of this complete folder. I haven't even started with Kodi tests cause makes no sense yet. I need EXACT instructions what/how you wanna play. How Kodi (without emby plugin) can play the content, and what content. There is a huge difference if you just play the actual media file or if you expect something like a bluray "menu" etc. Frankly I'm not an expert on bdmv and what's the benefit here. skank 83 Posted April 10, 2021 Author Posted April 10, 2021 Hi I just want to play the main movie How kodi plays the content i dont know, the old kodi emby addon had no problem either. I don't expect to play the bluray menu Is that enough for you?
quickmic 1600 Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 (edited) Well then I assume Kodi just played the m2ts file. I'm wondering how you could play the bdmv via Emby-Server webUI. Cause here Emby server doesn't even load the m2ts file and it's just natural that Kodi cannot play it either. Also I doubt that old Kodi plugin can play it and next gen not (talking about native mode). There is not a big difference in both native modes. I assume the actual problem is something different. According to your log (addon mode, not native mode) Kodi requested this file: http://127.0.0.1:57578/musicvideos/5ac4ea57538d01e84b310596c374a417/23696-aaf9bfcaa6fdb7f576605a2194a56363-41347351-stream-index.bdmv So actually it tried to play the index.bdmv via Emby server and as mentioned. This doesn't work, cause Emby server cannot play that file. If somebody knows how to load bdmv to Emby server, please let me know. Currently I'm just guessing, due to lag of information. skank 83 Posted April 10, 2021 Author Posted April 10, 2021 Kodi plays it fine, without emby I never said i played it through emby server webui I always use kodi or kodi with emby kodi addon That worked before. Yeah it tried to play the index.bdmv file It should point to the right m2ts file no? I'm not sure how that works Strange nobody from the emby team knows how that works? Devs from kodi could probably help you?
skank 83 Posted April 10, 2021 Author Posted April 10, 2021 I can tell you that the main movie is always the biggest file in that folder
skank 83 Posted April 10, 2021 Author Posted April 10, 2021 @Luke can you help here, in the past there was support for bdmv format, no? It did play in the past
quickmic 1600 Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 The problem is. Emby server doesn't even load the file. I don't mean it just cannot play the file. If doesn't LOAD the files. Therefore the plugin cannot know the path. As mentioned, I doubt the old plugin was able to handle it too. If yes, I need instructions how to load bdmv to Emby server. I'll stop investigation, till I have additional information.

Luke 39699 Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 You can't really stream a folder structure through the server, so this is something would have to be played just by passing the folder path into the Kodi player.
