ah786 3 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Hi Emby wants me to enter a password every time I log in using Nvidia Shield. I've un-ticked the option prompt for a password in the start up settings and for start up behaviour I've set it as automatically login as this user. Yet when I log out and log back in it says cant log in so then I enter my password to log in again. Any help would be appreciated please. Thanks

ah786 3 Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 I'm just exiting the app, I've not clicked on the "Log out" Shall I log out then log back in again? I did disable my qnap for several hours that's when the problem started.
ebr 15483 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 It is possible the server address changed. Try setting the app to "Show login screen". Then log in once how you want and set it back to "Log in as this user" and see if that clears it up.
skimmer10 1 Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Having same problem on more than one server now with Nvidia Shield device. Server IPs didn't change, prompt for password is off, login as this user is on, and I'm just exiting the app not actually logging off but every time the app is exited I have to re-enter the server address and login information.

Is this your server or someone else's? Did you try the suggestion in the previous message? On 12/9/2020 at 12:33 PM, ebr said: Try setting the app to "Show login screen". skimmer10 1 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 It's my server. Also had same issue on an older server when I had it, also mine many versions ago so updates haven't helped. Issue doesn't occur for anyone using same servers with different clients, seems to be related to the Shield client.

skimmer10 1 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Actually nvm I think it's working now. I had forgot to set it back to "Log in as this user". Although previously it would work a few times before asking me to login again so time will tell, but for now seems to be working. I set the app to "Show login screen", logged in, used it, then set it back to "Log in as this user". Thank you! 1

That would cause the app to discard that saved information (assuming it is no longer valid) and ask you to re-authenticate.
skimmer10 1 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Worked for a week, now back to old behavior: "invalid user id or password" no settings have changed, including the userid/password. Re-entering the same login works as expected, and continues to work for a while only with Nvidia shield client, other clients stay logged in indefinitely with no problems. That makes sense, but login shouldn't have failed as the login info didn't change.
ebr 15483 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
skimmer10 1 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I've tried with both apps before when I had this issue. But I'll try again and see if it works now.
