What do you mean by do not go to the solution in that thread? Because when people go straight to the solution in that thread they skip over a lot of valuable information to end up on an answer that only grants access to a directory (or directories) using ACLs. It's a specific fix for specific cases. As you found out it didn't work for you because it assumes emby is the OS user running the server process. However, reading through that thread would have given the info needed to better understand how ownership and permissions work and come up with the answer for your case. The solution also does not account for libraries that contain existing media with different ownership. For example, people copy files into the libraries or migrate from Plex. It does not explain or show that recursive changes might be needed and it doesn't explain what the commands do or why they're used. It's a helpful post but not a shortcut for that thread.
