Have you compared to the data on tvdb? Perhaps try using moviedb instead.

Luke,

With movieDB only:

image.thumb.png.dbecdb4e80e94977f7cab5685c31dded.png

With the TVDB (better but still showing the wrong cast):

image.thumb.png.62d95ab39c81b09108a264d413d66820.png

I even tried to manually delete the wrong cast and add the correct one:

image.thumb.png.573f6d13f327210a522dec5a24770bc3.png

Deleted Jeremy Renner:

Added Zoe Saldana manually:

image.thumb.png.3f7f2a84fa8caa069a20bdbec7675aa7.png

And here is the result:

image.thumb.png.d4ce684c2956f20c96f27dc07a3bba91.png

Cant figure out what is going on? Do I have a corrupted database?

Thanks!

Was there a problem with moviedb? You have the cast locked due to editing, so refreshing metadata won't actually do anything.

Try deleting the entire cast for the movie, making sure People isn't locked, then clicking Save. Then refresh metadata and see if that helps.

Luke,

Deleted all the cast, make sure nothing is locked:

Refreshed the Metadata:

image.thumb.png.3f705641371be76157ffbb613c8eb252.png

And now no cast appears unless I identify:

image.thumb.png.25a55386224ddd5c1643d9af8ce05a70.png

When I identify the same thing happens:

image.thumb.png.7159cef2669d4695d95bf148d9761f4f.png

Tried both the MovieDB and TVDB as Movie Metadata Downloaders!!!

Please make sure to attach complete log files rather than snippets. Thanks.

Sorry about that,

I can confirm that now refreshing the Metadata brings the cast and crew, but still wrong cast and crew:

OK. When you click on those people, do they have external id's, or no? If yes, are they correct?

External Id for Zoe Saldana is correct (image and path are wrong):

image.thumb.png.c599b491b9d5d42bdf4565fbb80bb6ed.png

for the some of them the crew are totally wrong (detection of the crew is wrong by emby) but the external ids are correct.

I'm guessing that this entry was Jake, but somehow got renamed to Zoe. How I don't know. Could have been bad data somewhere, like in an nfo file, or a defect in a previous server version, caused by plugin/api usage, etc.

What I would suggest is getting Zoe and Jake out of your database altogether. That's going to require removing them both from all titles in your library. Once this is done, then run a scan of all libraries to clean out the database. Once that is done, verify that you can no longer find those people even via the search function. Once you've verified that, then go ahead and try refreshing metadata again.

Luke,

As you can see from my previous post in a lot of movies, wrong cast and crew are still getting detected by emby; obviously I cant go to each movie one by one fix them.

As this is a new issue, it is highly suspected an issue with the previous server versions.

My question is, how do I rebuild the people database? Is it ok to delete folder and refresh metadata on each library?

It’s all tied together. There is no way to just remove people. You’d have to just make a fresh start with the whole database.

Luke,

another odd thing, I manually deleted a wrong cast, for example "Sacha Kalis" being recognized as "Gamora"

image.thumb.png.be67079f9047f50cc5de140bab7df583.png

image.thumb.png.243bb04a43a6ff2cad3c1a3db7a7af34.png

image.thumb.png.aef2a4987169ea7f5e0bc62cd2f6d3a6.png

And After saving, now the "Nebula" that was initially recognized by "Ty Burell" is now recognized by someone else "Ryan Reynold", see below:

image.thumb.png.3f9d482a62f85f340583e6113972d8eb.png

This seems to me an indexing issue.

So you think deleting the library and refreshing the database for that library could fix this?

Hi Luke,

Out of curiosity here is what I did. I installed a fresh copy of Emby Server on my desktop and shared the same library and guess what, I am still getting the wrong cast and crew:

image.thumb.png.9229061878232347f8cb241b46f1d4f0.png

image.thumb.png.3e3724421b94bb03ad4e13b28ff1b4aa.png

image.thumb.png.e1ba17994497b16ee10ed91a2fcea74b.png

image.thumb.png.ae5144421d32f24f6bf6e090102cc380.png

So there is something wrong with the metadata fetcher on the emby server so it can't be a corrupted database.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

Try again after unchecking NFO reader in your library settings.

Fixed some but did not detect the correct cast for all of them:

See if you have left over nfo files in you movie folder.

Try and move them out.

And check again.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that did not fixed the issue.

Deleted all the .nfo files. Refreshed the metadata on the whole library but still getting the wrong cast!

and the issue is with a lot of movies!

Ok hmm lets try this to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Try and rename it to

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) {TmdbId-447365}
