Sort Libraries into folders/groups

Currently I have my categories broken down into reasonable settings, but it would be nice to be able to put libraries into folders, especially for content that doesn't match/fit Emby's expectations of particular content, such as wrestling.

 

For example my current libraries would be:

 

4K

Movies

Kung Fu

Wrestling

 

It would be cool to be able to have:

 

Movies

-4K

-Movies

-Kung Fu

 

Wrestling

-Documentaries

-Shows

-PPV

Agree with this. I have my wrestling across eight different libraries at the moment (events and documentaries libraries for each of WWE, TNA, ROH and miscellaneous), and my libraries list is massive as a result.

Yeah I feel like Emby wants to classify content for ease-of-use but it just ends up limiting what can be done in single libraries.  Would be nice to be able to tier folders in and then instead of having content types determine display mode, have display mode be a setting per-folder that we could set.

 

So you could have:

 

Wrestling

-Documentaries  (posters:vertical, titles: on, dates:off)

--WWE

--WCW

--Other

-Shows (posters:vertical, titles: on, dates:on)

--WCW

--ROH

--Lucha Underground

--AJPW

-PPV (posters:horizontal, titles: on, dates:on)

--WCW

--ECW

--AAA

Doesn't seem like it.  Folder browsing would require my folders on the file system to be organized in this fashion and all in one spot.  Also wouldn't fix the issue of different display modes by content type.

So if you're not going to do it by folder browsing then how would the server know what is kung fu and what is wrestling?

I'm not sure how you mean, but for example I have 5 library folders that are movies, 1 kung fu, and 1 ninja. If I want to put these all in one section I'd have to move the folders physically, and then that library would just think they were all movies. If we were able to organize libraries via folders outside of the file system that would solve it.

 

Really it would be nice to be able to organize the entirety of our content on a granular level in a show's nfo in case Emby sorts it weird

Collections are still only 1 tiered, so they wouldn't work either.
