@@alexjcgdf - Sorry for replying late.

The qualcomm hw codecs are not used in automatic mode, you need to use custom mode like in post #20.

It seems to fail, though. Could you please restart Emby Server, retry and then post ffmpeg log and the regular Emby Server log?

Thanks

@@softworkz By the way, I tested with both normal and beta. Now, I am using beta.

Hmm, it's not one of those very early PIE versions that we know to have problems with.

Right now, I don't have any idea why it wouldn't work. Is this an official ROM (as Google delivers it)?

It is. It is the last Android 9. I only rooted it.

Do I change to another version like Oreo for example?

Is there another log out something that could help? Since the device is rooted maybe I can get something more.

Maybe I could use an intermediary version of PIE.

In fact for Pixel I have the Nougat, Oreo, Pie and 10.

Would I try the 10?

The 10 is toxic, I would try Nougat or Oreo..

@@softworkz

Oreo installed. Server configured. All options of transcoding selected. At this time, with all selected, it plays but with software. On the other, work the options selected it won't even play.

It looks much better now.

Let's try with something simple first, to see whether hw acceleration will work in general:

Play a h.264 video and when in doesn't transcode, reduce the bandwidth in the client.

So here it comes:

It is a 1080p x264 going to a 720p 1Mbps

Great, so hw acceleration is basically working!

Next step would be to try

  • an hevc file with 8bit color (not 10bit)
  • an hevc file with 10bit but only HD size
  • comparing hevc 10bit HDR vs. 10bit SDR

This allows us to find the reason why your 10bit UHD video is failing

Thanks.

Can you explain a little better this part?

What you want me to do next?

Hevc x264 or x265?

Disregard the last post. When I tried on my PC on the Emby theater I got the following:

Was that a good result?

Not yet. Waiting to see why doesn't work with 10bit x265 even for 1080p.

What @@Luke probably meant to ask is whether that video was looking good, I hadn't asked that :-)

No problem. Didn't mean that either. Looking the reply massage here was kinda weird. I was replaying while I was watching a movie with my wife.... So you imagine...

And the last!

X265 10bits SDR 1080p

By the way, I was using the beta before and the status of the server was not being refreshed on the phone APP. With the normal version that is happening as expected.

Guys, I gave up with the Android and went to a kinda good laptop I have here.

So I opened another thread on Windows Server topic.

I suggest to close this one.
