kanipek 229 Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Depends on your need. The Extend will transcode on the fly if you need that capability. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk

kanipek 229 Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 How do I know if I need transcoding on the fly? I think if you are asking about it you probably don't need it. But - If you are using CATV and most of your channels are mpeg2 it might be a consideration for you, if you transcode (from mpeg2 to mp4) them as they are being recorded you'll save space on your drive, if you keep the recordings long term you won't have to then convert them to save space, and this is being done by the tuner and therefore doesn't use any system resources. I personally use the connects. Does that help?
