Hello everyone

I got recently a Shield Pro which should my LibreELEC to replace.

And my plan is to switch directly to the Emby App instead of using Emby for Kodi.

But now I have discovered three things, that triggers a unwanted transcoding:

Subtitles in the "DVDSUB" format, m2ts container and DD+ 7.1 audio tracks (is supported by the speakers).

On Emby for Kodi its all fine (on the Shield). So can I do something against these issues in the Emby App?

Thanks.

Hi.  Sorry but DVDSub will require transcoding with our app at this time.  Due to them not being a streaming media subtitle format, Google isn't very motivated in adding support for them.

The issue with 7.1 DD+ is a current issue only with the Shield.  It has been reported to Google as well.

Thanks.

Is that the same as this addressed in the Exoplayer update?

2.10.8 (2019-11-19)
E-AC3 JOC
Handle new signaling in DASH manifests (#6636).
Fix E-AC3 JOC passthrough playback failing to initialize due to incorrect channel count check.

Hard to say but that sounds promising.

If so, they have not acknowledged it in the issue report.

Thanks for the reply. I found answers from Google that they this only implement it is if someone delivers it... maybe I should search a converting solution for Vobsub to PGS.

DD+ is not tragic, is rather rare.

Only the m2ts containers surprise me. If I see it right, the Exoplayer and Shield should support it.

While you're at it, @@cayars could you also remove wma audio as direct play.

ATV converts to 128 bit mp3 as Exoplayer doesn't support the format.

Thanks

Two question:

1. Will you guys put effort into work around it or wait till Google adds support for it?

2. Why aren't PGS supported when external?

Does anyone even do this?
