Kimballslice1890 6 Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 I'm sure there are scripts or maybe an add-on someone can point me to in the meantime? Has it ever been considered to put in a feature to transcode recordings as they are recording? For example if I record a 1HR HD program, recordings can get upwards of 6GB. If I could set a bitrate to have my server transcode the recording on the fly to say 1080p 5mbps? To keep file sizes down and reduce time spent cleaning up libraries
Solution Luke 39640 Posted November 25, 2019 Solution Posted November 25, 2019 It's possible for the future. Thanks. 1
SirBomble 2 Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Any word on this feature? The need to post-process files for compatibility is a bit of a burden.

Luke 39640 Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Just now, SirBomble said: Converting to mp4 since ts isn't an idea file format So even if we offered the option to convert while recording, it would have to keep the mpegts container in order to keep it playable during the recording. The only thing we can convert during recording would be video or audio codec, but it has to stay as ts or you won't be able to play while recording.

That totally makes sense, I speaking more about post-processing. Sort of like the post-processing script option. But instead giving an option to pic a conversion format after it finishes recording.
