silverkx2000 0 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Hey there! So I recently discovered Media Browser for Chromecast. Now while this is great, I did my research and found that I would be able to stream media, from my computer, using Media Browser server, to Chromecast, via Chrome....Sadly, I haven't been able to find out exactly HOW!How do I go about streaming to chromecast from chrome using Media Browser?as you can see from the photo I have attached...Chromecast Doesn't show up...
KRA 39 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) I was working a while back during some dev releases of the server, but seems to be removed again. Have no idea why it stopped working since it was working better than current status off android app. Edited June 8, 2014 by KRA
CBers 6961 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) @@silverkx2000 - Do you have the Chromecast extension added to Chrome? Search for it in the chrome store if not. If/when you have it installed, then try casting to it from chrome and report back. Alternatively, if you have an Android phone/tablet (or iOS) purchase the MediaBrowser app and use that to cast. Hope this helps. . Edited June 8, 2014 by CBers
One2Go 106 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Will Chrome cast Tabs from Tablets / Nexus phones? I was under the imprecion only from PC or Laptop based browsers.
CBers 6961 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Only from PCs currently I believe, although there are loads of othee apps that now have Chromecast functionality.
Koleckai Silvestri 1150 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Chromecast support for the web client hasn't been released yet. It is still a work in progress according to the github issues list.
poet1958 0 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) cannot cast from chrome with the cast extension here either and though i love mb3 on my nexus 7, kindle fire hd, and lg lucid phone, none of them work with Chromecast even though my google based lg lucid was able to access the chromecast, media browser 3 does not push the data to the chromecast the media browser app doesnt seem to have the cast button, whether thats a chromecast issue or an mb3 issue i cant say Edited June 8, 2014 by poet1958
CBers 6961 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) It's definitely in the Android app as I use it to watch MB3 media on my Chromecast every day. Do you have the Google Chromecast app on your Nexus 7? Edited June 8, 2014 by CBers

Luke 38844 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 we do plan to complete chromecast support for the web client. just a matter of when. Tim Hobbs said he may have some time soon.

I am talking about this apo: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.chromecast.app It will give you access to reboot your Chromecast etc. Also, the Google Photos (in-built) app allows for playback of pictures. At least then you can check that your CC works OK.

Tim Hobbs said he may have some time soon. that would be nice, Mb3 works marvelously on all my other devices i bought the chromecast specifically since mb3 made a point of saying it supported chromecast but i can wait i know how great the development team has been and i know youll sort it out eventually

CBers 6961 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Which version Nexus 7 do you have? Do you have any logs on the Nexus 7 when using the Mb3 app? They should be in: /sdcard/Mb3AndroidData/Logs
silverkx2000 0 Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 yeah, my extension is installed, I even rebooted my Chromecast. it seems to be removed as a function. I even installed the beta to try and test it out. thanks for all the replies, I guess Ill stick to videostreamer for now ^-^
Redshirt 1487 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 That is very strange. The only things that I can think would be stopping the app from being compatible on the Nexus 7 would be that the OS is older than 4.0. Or that Google Play Services isn't installed, or is outdated.
CBers 6961 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I've just uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my Nexus 7 2012 without issue from the Play Store. @@poet1958 - are you running stock android or another rom?

CBers 6961 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) To me, it looks like the app is failing to connect to your MB3 server. I'm sure @@Redshirt will have more of an insight. Edited June 8, 2014 by CBers
Redshirt 1487 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 That client version is 3 months old. Version 1.0.45 is the most recent. I've made updates to CC support since then. Do you have upgrading turned off for the app? 1
CBers 6961 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) no its the one ive had since i bought itCheck in the Google Play Store to see if there's an update. Once on latest version, try CC playback again. I'm not sure the version in the Amazon Store supports CC playback. Edited June 8, 2014 by CBers
Redshirt 1487 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Amazon store version does support CC if the device is rooted.
CBers 6961 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Amazon store version does support CC if the device is rooted. Cool. I wwasn't aware of that.
poet1958 0 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 thats the problem then i wasnt aware that there was a different version om amazon as opposed to google play.... why is that? guess ill need to buy it again if i want to use chromecast
