Play queue

Is there a play queue in ET?

 

I'm a plex user (hopefully soon to be ex-plex) and I like to fall asleep with the TV on. I would normally load up a playlist and if there were 15 items on it, I may choose to start playing from item 5 and then remove items 9-15, leaving only 4 in the queue...then I would just let it play until it reached the end of the queue and it would stop. 

 

I can't seem to replicate that in ET, if I load a playlist I can't see a way to remove items unless I edit the main playlist.  If I don't use a playlist and just choose to play an episode from a show, ET will continue to play all episodes until I turn it off in the morning. 

 

- happy to do it some other way, doesn't have to be playlist and queue, but is there a way I can replicate something similar?

Hi @@n7of9, there is, but it's currently only visible when playing music. It's not exposed in the video player. There is a play queue to play multiple items, but you just can't manipulate it in the user interface. It's something we'll improve in a future update. Thanks.

Hi, I came up with a workaround I'm happy with. Say my playlist has 10 items but I only want to watch 3 of them, I just move them to the bottom of the playlist and start watching from the 3rd last one.

Will this be improved/changed/added in a future version? This is one of the things I use quite a lot on Plex for Roku as I tend to put on playlists when trying to fall asleep or generally doing other things around the house.

Is this going to happen? Me and my friends were adding music videos to play queue and not being able to see what is coming on next or being able to alter it is a pain

Hi, it is already there. Have you tried clicking up next in the video player?

Hi, I'm currently away at my mum's so I've tested it on her TV instead (Emby on LG) and it does work, on phone it doesn't, and at my friends he uses a fire stick which also doesn't, I've not tested on a Chromecast TV yet I will when I get back to my house, I will also show you the pictures of what it looks like on fire stick when I get home

 

I'm guessing the below image is how it's supposed to look when Chrome casting? We didn't have that on fire stick but it works on LG

I'm also now realising this question was for Emby Theatre, sorry didn't even know what Emby theatre was found this question on Google and replied to it, I meant being able to view the play queue on other devices so far it hasn't worked on Fire Stick and my android phone, it works on Emby for LG, will be testing on my tablet, computer, Chromecast and Google TV later tonight

I've now fully tested Fire Stick, Emby on LG, and Chromecast TV:

- There is no music video queue on fire stick for Emby when on TV and connected remotely on phone

- Chromecast TV does have a queue when connected on my phone to the TV but not when using the TV directly

- Emby on LG app store works perfectly (but we don't have one of these TVs)

For fire tv as well as chromecast..

Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

Didn't realise there was another app on TV thank you, I got it on Chromecast and now there is an up next I will test it on my friends fire stick when I next go to his too

There's no up next on my phone when not casting however (there is on my android tablet) also it would be so nice if there was a favourite button on a music video so I don't have to keep going off the play queue and find the song to like it, also the filter option has no option to filter by artist and when going on to the Emby artist page there is no way to play all/shuffle all music videos by an artist so you have to make a playlist instead these would be some really nice quality of life improvements would also be great if with music, music videos (and I suppose even everything else but mainly for music) we could sort by date favourited so you can play songs you have recently liked, you can sort of do this by going to favours songs and sorting by date played but then anything you play gets pushed to the top
