imagineths952 0 Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Hi. I am new to emby. I downloaded and everything is good howver, when at start up the emby website opens to invite someone. Not a home page. I have to manually type in the regular emby connect link and then sign in and i am already logged in. Not sure if thats the way it should work. On other hand, it works for an hour or so, but after a bit i can't connect to the server. It's like it goes to sleep. Specifically to just emby. My windows 10 PC i have the dedicated server set up to is on 24/7. Plex never sleeps. Only Emby does and I went through all the settings and can't figure out how to fix this. In order to wake it I have to go to the server, and open up the emby connect web address. Then the apps on other devices work. If I don't do that, I can't connect at random times throughout the day. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

imagineths952 0 Posted July 18, 2019 Author Posted July 18, 2019 That's what comes up when I write click Emby icon in system tray to browse or check out the server. I have to manually then open the main app.emby.media page. Which then wakes up the server and i can use it. Until a few hours later it goes offline even though my computer is on 24/7 and plex works fine. I prefer Emby after using it a bit so that the only issue I have at moment. Can't get it to stay on all the time the same way plex does. It's a dedicated computer to just these services.
Luke 39631 Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 If that's what comes up when you open the system tray then i would step through it and complete the startup wizard. If you're saying that you've already done that, then it sounds to me like you've managed to install two instances of Emby Server on the same machine. What platform are you on, Windows ?

Hey, sorry I went away for a week. Just got back and trying to see how to fix this. Yes, I am on Windows, should I uninstall and start fresh?
Luke 39631 Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 I would suggest following what i suggested. If you do happen to have two installations, you'll probably want to find out where they are.
Luke 39631 Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 So you can finish the startup wizard, then look at the paths section in the lower right of the server dashboard. Then run the other server the way you normally do, do the same and compare.
