Damply 0 Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 I have a budget of about 1,000 USD i want to spend on making a dedicated server for emby. I have been reading around for a long time now on what to build but i want more info before spending the money. I have A LOT of users (who transcode all the time) and i have a big library. The issue i have is i dont know where to start, should i go with a rack mount or just another tower build. Should i go amd, intel(maybe a xeon?), should i get a dedicated card for it to utilize the gpu transcode too or just stick with cpu. I'm willing to spend the money to get a good dedicated set up but just need a good push in the right direction.
Luke 39697 Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Hi there, welcome. I would suggest Intel over and, but as for whether or not to even go that route, @ what do you think?
BAlGaInTl 279 Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 define 'a lot of users' This. What's your server build now? Is it handling the work, or is it falling short somewhere?
Guest asrequested Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Yeah, how many users? And more importantly, how many simultaneous users that will be requiring transcoding?
