Emby Convert storage

The convert feature is fantastic, but a bit overreaching for old sysadmins that prefer to keep tight control over their systems. Would it be possible to create an administrator configured storage location for converted videos instead of modifying the original content storage? I have a single, hard headed, user that won't stop using iGarbage so she has to convert a lot of videos. I'm fine with that, and this feature is GREAT, but I don't want my library modified for the convenience of a single user.

In short, my issue is having multiple copies appearing in the original media folders, OR, having a user REPLACE the original media. I am the ONLY person I want making modifications to my library content, not my users. At the same time, I don't want to deal with converting by request from my users. The happy middle ground would be having a dedicated storage location that does not impact original media/library which serves the interests of my users as well as this old cranky admin.

This would also make it much simpler to track and remove converted files. Mainly, I just don't want Emby modifying my actual library storage. Too many different tools making changes just leads to problems. I want Emby to help with media consumption, not modify my existing content. Also, the current solution takes for granted that disk space is available for every media file/location - that is frequently not the case in many use cases.

Thanks for considering!

Hi, yes you can already do this with the folder sync plugin. Install that, and then you can sync to folders of your choice. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Thanks very much, I'll give this a go and see how it works out. Emby configuration is such a sprawling endeavor and finding information for everything available can be less than intuitive, at times :) .

At first glance, this appears to address my needs - I believe!
