I start my Emby app. choose connect to server manually. type in my server address ...hit connect and get back to the first mask where I cab choose emby connect or manually.
Yes, with other devices I can connect.

Yes, I have internet etc

and no I don't even see an attempt from my server dashboard.

My server is behind a reverse proxy and address is like https://hello.world.org

Hi.  Can you connect to it without the reverse proxy?

Posted

And also, what type of SSL certificate are you using?

Posted

Didn't try it without reverse proxy but it work on different browsers and on ios app without any problems so I didn't think that this is the problem..and I use let's encrypt Zertificate. But only on my reverse proxy not on my emby it self

The issue is likely the device not trusting the ssl certificate. That is usually the case with let's encrypt and apple devices. I am surprised to hear it's working on iOS.

My Ssl Zertifikates working everywhere without problems. My cloud run this too (different Zertifikat but Same let's encrypt) and no browser no device nothing had ever said that it's not good.

I have this same problem, reverse proxy using Letsencrypt. Working fine using IOS and Android but AppleTv keeps returning to main menu.

Tried all these:

https://url:8096

https://url:443

url:8096 (should.bypass the reverse proxy)

Does it work with plain http?

Well we tried:

That's what AppleTv seems to try when you leave out the entire http bit (and port).

My mum is using an Apple TV device remotely and I am using an nginx reverse proxy with a cloudflare cert. I only have https

The issue appears to be Cloudflare being in between, this URL works fine in the AppleTV: "ip_address:8096"

So we're using that for now, not sure why Apple doesn't like CF.

Apple iOS or tvOS devices have no problems with Cloudflare SSL certificates or Cloudflare being used as reversed proxy for accessing your Emby Server remotely with domain name.

Using both, on iphone/ipad/Apple TV 4k, without any problems.

And yet there must be something specific to the Apple TV. I am not having this issue with Apple IOS, only Apple TV.

Can't really debug the issue right now as the Apple TV in question is not with me.

You probably have CF setup wrong.   Dont use minify, or rocket loader, features.

Don't have those on.

Anyway, it works for others, so there must be something on my end, will figure it out sometime, it works with direct IP for now :)

Thanks for the offer, but I will wait until I am actually at the site of this AppleTV, so I can properly test and try things.

Let us know how you get on. Thanks.

Hi was there ever a resolution to this issue?  I think I'm encountering something similar, Apple TV client is not able to connect to remote server behind Cloudflare proxy.  Other apps are able to connect remotely (iPhone, Android, web app).

Does your Apple TV connect to my server? Click my avatar for test login info.

Yes connecting to your test server worked on the Apple TV. So maybe there's some configuration on my end I can change to make it work?
