macv 2
Welp, then testing the exact cause might be a good next step, instead of throwing in the towel.
Carlo 4331
Pretty standard message these days IMHO. It's stops apps from getting auto installed by other less than legic means. Unless you're doing an update and already approved the app it's likely to give this message these days. You just override it and let it continue installing as YOU have chosen to install it and KNOW where the installer came from.
NoMorePlex 0
Emby has spoken... It is a bit sad that instead of confirming that the installation process has UX issues and looking into solving them, the Emby team says, "go edit the registry" and "other apps have the same issues these days." Such attitude is precisely why I am going away from Plex: application dies when user experience and satisfaction are not that important for the dev team. BTW, the solution for the SmartScreen warning is known since 2012/2013, and you need only 5 minutes to find it on the Internet. But why bother, right? Just in case somebody wants to know - EV Code signing establishes the app reputation for the SmartScreen engine, and it will stop blocking the app.
Carlo 4331
That wasn't meant to sound like we can't look at this but it's still true this happens with lots of different software that doesn't come through via a store. It's quite a helpful message and does stop malware and other sorts of problem software from getting auto installed but when you know the source of the software being installed and have manually chosen to install software it's easy to give permission to continue installing.
