daedalus 430 Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 (edited) in consequence to the latest change (https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/72089-41019-delete-to-recycle-bin/), where, for windows users (with the lookout that this will come for other OS too), the possibility to direct delete was removed and they are now only able to delete files to the recycle bin, here the requested feature request as different users have different needs hopefully this will finally lead to, that we users can control how emby deletes our media Edited May 14, 2019 by daedalus 5
chef 3808 Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 Would it be okay to create a plugin that removes certain file from the recycle bin. This would have to be specific to windows because it would involve pInvoke. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1119567/deleting-a-single-item-from-recycle-bin
daedalus 430 Posted May 16, 2019 Author Posted May 16, 2019 (edited) not a programmer, but even i don't get why this seems so hard and you "all" constantly be reluctant to implement, what other software easily can manage, i, personally, would be ok with everything that restores the behavior before the change, direct delete of media files without a users interaction Edited May 16, 2019 by daedalus
miniz98 73 Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 Can I disable when someone deletes a show it goes to the recycling bin. The server is unmanaged and I can't keep loving into it to delete the trash. I don't even have a monitor hooked up to it. @@miniz98
pwhodges 1855 Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 Although the Windows recycle bin can be useful, if the media being handled by Emby is on the same drive as other things (documents, pictures, etc) which might benefit from being deleted to the recycle bin then the large deletions made by Emby will displace those small items faster than would otherwise be expected - making the utility of the recycle bin less than expected. For this reason, an option to choose whether deletions are immediate or to the recycle bin would be a useful addition.
