psuhammer 0 Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 (edited) I recently bought a one month license for Emby to kick the tires on it as I am having issues with Plex on an Nvidia Shield when trying to play back UHD HDR content consistently. Of course I am having issues with Emby, too. My problem is that some of my UHD Blu Ray MKV files will play fine and HDR is recognized and properly displayed, other movies appear washed out and will NOT play properly with Emby. Here are two that will not and one that does. Can someone tell me if they see a reason why they would not? Aquaman - washed out HDR and app doesn't recognize the file typeSaving Private Ryan - washed out HDR and app doesn't recognize the file typeInfinity War - plays ok except for all green blockiness part way through the film. This also happens in Plex which means it must be an Nvidia Shield issue. The Plex app DOES properly play them, if it matters. EDIT - I wonder if it has to do with subtitles? I noticed that Infinity War does not have them but the others do. Is that throwing the Emby client for a loop? PrivateRyan.txt Infinity War.txt aquaman.txt Edited April 12, 2019 by psuhammer

psuhammer 0 Posted April 12, 2019 Author Posted April 12, 2019 (edited) Thanks! But my files are not cropped or transcoded, just taking a mux of the original 2160p film. Edited April 12, 2019 by psuhammer
Guest asrequested Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 (edited) Can you post a screenshot of the media info? Edited April 12, 2019 by Doofus
psuhammer 0 Posted April 12, 2019 Author Posted April 12, 2019 (edited) I am assuming you want to see this? Here is one pic from a UHD mkv movie that is recognized and one that is not in the Emby client. Keep in mind that both are taken from a Blu Ray disk and just remuxed to an MKV. No transcoding. And both handled via the same app (CloneBD). Also, both play fine in Plex. and the other that does not: Edited April 12, 2019 by psuhammer
Guest asrequested Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 If you scroll down, you should see the file details.
psuhammer 0 Posted April 12, 2019 Author Posted April 12, 2019 Maybe mine is missing something. Are you saying to scroll down on the screens I posted above? If I do, there is only chapter, cast and related movies sections.
Luke 38979 Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Can you open that one in the web app, click the 3-dot menu and refresh the metadata? Then restart the android tv app and see if anything changes. If not, please attach the emby server log. thanks !
Happy2Play 9222 Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 (edited) The Aquaman screenshot shows Video <Unknown> and no audio track, so it would appear to be a metadata media info issue to me. Maybe failed ffprobe? Edited April 12, 2019 by Happy2Play
Guest asrequested Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 The Aquaman screenshot shows Video <Unknown> and no audio track, so it would appear to be a metadata issue to me. Maybe failed ffprobe? I was thinking something similar.
psuhammer 0 Posted April 13, 2019 Author Posted April 13, 2019 (edited) The Aquaman screenshot shows Video <Unknown> and no audio track, so it would appear to be a metadata media info issue to me. Maybe failed ffprobe? I am assuming Plex uses something different than FFmpeg as it can see the metadata for the file properly. Is there a way to resolve this? Can you open that one in the web app, click the 3-dot menu and refresh the metadata? Then restart the android tv app and see if anything changes. If not, please attach the emby server log. thanks ! No bueno. Here is the log. For what it is worth, the web client also doesn't recognize the file video or audio. EmbyServerLog.txt Edited April 13, 2019 by psuhammer
Happy2Play 9222 Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 The log shows ffprobe erroring on the file, so I can only assume there is a issue in the header information of the file. A dev will have to comment further. 2019-04-12 20:55:52.274 Error App: Error in ffprobe *** Error Report *** Version: 4.0.3.0 Command line: C:\Users\robcr\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll Operating system: Microsoft Windows NT 6.2.9200.0 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True User Interactive: True Processor count: 12 Program data path: C:\Users\robcr\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata Application directory: C:\Users\robcr\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system System.Exception: System.Exception: ffprobe failed for file:"G:\Movies\Aquaman 4k.mkv" - streams and format are both null: { ffprobe version 4.0.2-emby_2018_12_09-g5abbb1430d+238 Copyright (c) 2007-2018 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 8.2.1 (Rev1, Built by MSYS2 project) 20181207 configuration: --disable-autodetect --enable-amf --enable-bzlib --enable-cuda --enable-cuvid --enable-d3d11va --enable-dxva2 --enable-iconv --enable-lzma --enable-nvenc --enable-zlib --enable-sdl2 --disable-debug --enable-ffnvcodec --enable-nvdec --enable-gmp --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopus --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-libx264 --enable-fontconfig --enable-libass --enable-libbluray --enable-libfreetype --enable-libmfx --enable-libmysofa --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libsnappy --enable-libsoxr --enable-libspeex --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvidstab --enable-libvo-amrwbenc --enable-libwavpack --enable-libwebp --enable-libxml2 --enable-libzimg --enable-libshine --enable-gpl --enable-avisynth --enable-libxvid --enable-libaom --enable-version3 --enable-libzvbi --enable-gnutls --extra-cflags=-DLIBTWOLAME_STATIC --extra-libs=-lstdc++ --extra-cflags=-DLIBXML_STATIC --extra-libs=-liconv libavutil 56. 14.100 / 56. 14.100 libavcodec 58. 18.100 / 58. 18.100 libavformat 58. 12.100 / 58. 12.100 libavdevice 58. 3.100 / 58. 3.100 libavfilter 7. 16.100 / 7. 16.100 libswscale 5. 1.100 / 5. 1.100 libswresample 3. 1.100 / 3. 1.100 libpostproc 55. 1.100 / 55. 1.100 The tags at index 6 refer to a non-existent track 7. psuhammer 0 Posted April 13, 2019 Author Posted April 13, 2019 Interesting. And yet, MediaInfo is able to see the information without error.
Guest asrequested Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 It's probably a bad mux. But back to the original issue. If the file is directly played, whatever is playing it shouldn't be subject to the server metadata. It's handled by the player. But.... because of a bad mux, that may actually be why it doesn't play correctly. Try running it through mkvtoolnix. And try another scan.
psuhammer 0 Posted April 13, 2019 Author Posted April 13, 2019 Will do. I am still perplexed why this will play correctly in different players.
Guest asrequested Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 Will do. I am still perplexed why this will play correctly in different players. That's the thing with weird muxes, some players will be ok, others won't. I've come across so many files made with makemkv that are weird muxes, who knows why????
Luke 38979 Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 Strange. We're about to release emby server 4.1. can you try this again once available? Thanks.

spants 0 Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 Still has a problem with 4.1.1.0 I think it is specifically a problem with the parsing of 4k HEVC (Main 10 HDR) films - they all fail but play ok on Plex. Attached are clips of plex and emby - the latter shows no video info.
