Does emby for the Samsung H series TV support use of https?

I have a purchased cert which works fine on tls 1.2 with emby for apple TV and Emby for LG tvs and android client and Web client. All those work.

The Samsung fails to connect. Its either lack of https support or it does not have the trusted CA in its list to do the cert chain check or something else.

Cert works as stated with the other Emby apps and a green padlock in chrome client.

Thanks

It's the latter. The question is, do these devices trust your certificate.

@@SamES may have looked into this previously.

What model is your TV?  For TLS 1.2 this would suggest yes, but I don't know what CA's

Edit: sorry, just saw H-series in your first post, so this is Orsay based.  In this case I don't believe it is possible.

For reference, this is the Tizen references (which won't be useful to you, but possibly to others.

Q1Do Samsung Smart TVs support TLS and SSL?

To transmit encrypted information between Web browsers and Web servers, Samsung Smart TVs support TLS (Transport Layer Security) versions 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2.
A TV firmware upgrade can be required to patch the POODLE attack vulnerability. Consequently, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is no longer supported

https://developer.samsung.com/tv/support/documentation-qa/developing-applications-qa/#

And this, maybe it is only supported via the built in browser?

Between web browsers and web servers, to transmit and receive encrypted information, Samsung Tizen TV supports TLS(Transport Layer Security). The version of TLS supported is 1.0/1.1/1.2. (SSL(Secure Sockets Layer) is not supported.)

I don't recall anyone getting this to work as far as I know

I have two models of the H series.

The 55" of 6700 and the 22" of the 5600.

Everything else connects with the cert but not Samsung :) If I COULD FIND a supported list of approved CA's from them, then at least I would know which CA's are supported but digicert is well established and well known.

Wish the Samsung app had a virtual keyboard on screen as well like the LG TV app instead of the mobile phone type keypad as that's a nightmare to use. You can only switch off the stupid T9 text prediction by using another app that allows access to the option to switch it off.

Also noticed that the icons at bottom of the sign in page don't show and have X to mark their place, and on the H5600 (not 6700) the display is not correct as the page layout is all messed up.

The 22" was sold in 2014-2017 as it was a 1080p panel, and most panels sold 2015 onwards for this screen size were NOT 1080p from other manufacturers hence why Samsung sold shed loads of these.

I saw one reference that mentioned that Samsung don't disclose the certificate providers.  I've never found a list for Samsung.

Yeah, the keyboard sucks on the Orsay models.  There is a basic keyboard but it just didn't work correctly with this app. There were a lot of problems (and time wasted) trying to make it work
