Hi all,

I have moved to the Web client for mobile use after giving up on the Android app. I have been pleased with it for the most part!

One major problem I have found is playback pauses on my Live TV content when it gets to a point where a commercial has been stripped out. I use Plex Server to record TV shows/movies since commercial stripping is built-in. Works very well.

Here are my test results from a few different platforms:

Playback pauses where a commercial has been stripped out:

chrome mobile
chrome desktop
brave mobile
brave desktop

Playback works as it should:

edge desktop
ie desktop
firefox desktop

I wonder if timestamps are damaged at that point, and the browser video player just isn't' resilient enough to overcome that.

Emby Android app
Emby Android TV app
Plex web desktop

Is this something that can be fixed?

Can you provide a sample video for testing? Thanks.

Sure. File sizes are huge. Do you want me to zip and send you a link?

This is still happening. It's a huge hassle to watch something that I record.

Is this being looked at/fixed?

Thanks

Hello,

Just circling the wagon to see if this is being worked on? It's been 3 months and the problem still persists.

Thanks in advance.

@@softworkz can test your sample file. Thanks.

Does he have it or do I/you need to send it to him?

I think I added him to the PM a while back but if possible you may want to start a new one and send it to him. Thanks.

Ok so playback still freezes on Chrome Android Emby Web where commercials are ripped.

Here is a short video recorded from yesterday, about 20 minutes in length: http://troyhough.com/Nebraska.ts

Playback freezes @ 3:07, 6:28, 10:08, and 13:06

The server Dashboard shows that the video is fully transcoded however it fails to fully download and/or buffer/playback.

Logs are attached.

Is it possible to make the web player more "robust" like the official app player, which seems to not have issues with playback where commercials are ripped?

Posted

Right now we don't yet know where the problem is so it's hard at this point to give much of an answer.

Ok you should have everything you need to test. Let me know if I can provide any additional information.

I noticed today my Web App is showing version 4.2.0.66

Is there a changelog link somewhere that posts changes/updates to each new version? Is the "more robust web player" aspect being worked on to fix the freezes where commercials are ripped out?

Thanks

If you follow the beta server release notes, the online web app gets the same changes as that.
