Pelon 186 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Look at the posters in this page: http://www.buzzfeed.com/erinlarosa/movie-posters-improved-with-animation 1
Koleckai Silvestri 1151 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Would need to support GIF, MNG or WebP images. Or all three unless there are readily available conversion tools.
fantaxp7 191 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 And this for backdrops And this cool matrix one But of course there is no awesome repository for such things that would make this easy 1

Deathsquirrel 744 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 1 is neat. Imagining a poster wall full of that makes me shudder...but I'm pretty darn picky about movie posters.

AdrianW 1055 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 That backdrop is similar to a whole series of great GIFs that were on the site If we don't. Remember Me. But the images seem to have gone now. Here's a whole heap of images from Kubrick movies. 1

Deathsquirrel 744 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 If that makes you shudder, now imagine a poster wall like that for someone's porn collection. I won't imagine that and you can't make me. 1
sfnetwork 514 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 (edited) Is there a source for that? The inception one is so cool BTW... Edited May 8, 2014 by sfnetwork
trusselo 224 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Yeah, my first thought was of a web page in 1995. Remember all those animated GIFs...? The first webpage I coded in 1997 was all south park GIFs.. remember visible frames?
fantaxp7 191 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) This thread is fun. Here, have another. Edit, one one more Edited May 8, 2014 by fantaxp7 1
Latchmor 584 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Yeah that last 2 are cool. Less is definitely more in this case I think.
Pelon 186 Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Yeah, my first thought was of a web page in 1995. Remember all those animated GIFs...? You mean, that you don't want this:

fantaxp7 191 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Is there a source for that? The inception one is so cool BTW... I subscribe to reddit's cinemagraph subreddit and they pop up on my feed. http://www.reddit.com/r/Cinemagraphs/
gthrift 57 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I've seen them reffered to as motion posters. They are very cool. A user on avsforums also created software to turn a tv that's been rotated 90degrees to show them off. I think there is even a request on here or the previous tracker requesting a plugin to integrate these into MB3 so it shows the poster for the movie currently being played. http://www.movieposterapp.com/ (click more link for more examples, a lot of them are videos but could be converted to a high quality gif) here are some more. http://collider.com/tag/motion-poster/
navanod 12 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Very cool idea, both or either as a poster and backdrop.
Heckler 147 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 WOW... I am loving these animated posters... But what about boxsets, I use the stacked setting in coverart for those... I'd love to see that rotate through the movies in the boxset folder. But unless I could have gif posters for everything, I wouldn't want it. I like having conformity throughout my movies... and I've got about 1200 movies that would need animated posters. The backdrops however... those would be so cool.
ebr 15673 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 If you really want animated backdrops, that is possible now with the theme videos. 1
Heckler 147 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 This poster is my fave... it's even got sound. http://collider.com/dredd-motion-poster/#more-177272
