TiraelSedai 0
They are displayed via DLNA or Web App. I know this is sort of duplicate of topic https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/52189-subtitles-not-showing-in-video-playback-emby-lg-app/ but this topic is going of tangents already discussing line breaks and stuff while I just want my damn words. I've experienced this couple of times but the files I have on hand are MKV containers of a TV show. LG app correctly recognizes it has one subtitle built-in, it's language (English) but there is just nothing showing. I'm not even sure what to attach here so I'll ask first what you need to investigate.

TiraelSedai 0
Hi. Restarted emby to clean up logs, played on Web app, then pushed to DLNA, then tried LG app. Need anything else? P.S. Your manual says that for Windows logs are at %appdata%\Emby-Server\logs, whilst now they are at %appdata%\Emby-Server\programdata\logs. Please update the topic. logs.7z Edited January 26, 2019 by TiraelSedai

bruceas 0
I have the same problem. Im extracting all forced subtitles from my files with a script: xxx.mkv xxx.ita.forced.srt The forced subtitle now exist 2 times. One is inside the mkv (LG app do not display it) and the other is external. It will be displayed to LG TV, but for default, LG will open the inside subtitle. It is possible to enable priorityfor external subtitles? Thanks

It is possible to rename the file to xxx.ita.forced.default.srt ? Inside the MKV there is also an ita forced default subtitle. TiraelSedai 0
Sure, thanks. Would it be in the very next update? I thought it was on LG review for a while already. Or do I have to wait for the update after the next?

Thanks Just label them as forced that's basically the same thing. Then set your emby user subtitle preferences accordingly. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks. I can only set "play forced subtitles", but i can't say to use the "external forced" subtitle. LG player will (not) display the internal forced subtitle by default. I must select the external subtitle every time i play a movie. And in the list there are 2 "forced" subtitles, one internal and one external, but in the list the name is the same. bruceas 0
From web app i can select (i don't know the right english translation) ITA ENG??? Predefinito Default Intelligente Smart Solo i sott. forzati Only forced subtitles Visualizza sempre sott. always display subtitles Nessun Sottotitolo Never show subtitles Nothing about Internal or External. Luke 37118
Correct. You don't need to worry about internal or external.
bruceas 0
Correct. You don't need to worry about internal or external. My MKV files have only internal forced subtitles. They works with web Emby app, but not with LG App. Nothing is displayed. So i have created a script to extract only forced subtitles. Now i have an MKV file with internal forced subtitles not visible in LG App, and an external subttle visible in LG App. When i start the MKV, Emby LG App, by default, read the internal subtitle and i don't see text on TV. I must manualy select the external forced subtitle, but the names of internal and external subtitles is the same in the list. I'd like to have: 1) LG App display internal subtitles so i don't need to extract them. 2) Set default to external, so i don't need to manualy select external subtitles. 3) Put "External" and "Internal" in the list of subtitles so i can select the right subtitle. Thanks, bye.
Luke 37118
Set default to external, so i don't need to manualy select external subtitles. You can do this now by naming the files as such: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Subtitles External subtitles already get priority over internal when they are tagged appropriately. bruceas 0
My serevr is 4.1.0.6 beta. My MKV have this subtitles inside: Testo #1 ID : 4 Format : UTF-8 Codec ID : S_TEXT/UTF8 Codec ID/Info : UTF-8 Plain Text Duration : 1s 918 ms Bit rate : 150 b/s Count of elements : 1 Stream size : 36,0 Byte (0%) Title : ITA - Forced Language : Italiano Default : Si Forced : Si Testo #2 ID : 5 Format : UTF-8 Codec ID : S_TEXT/UTF8 Codec ID/Info : UTF-8 Plain Text Duration : 55 min 4s Bit rate : 56 b/s Count of elements : 729 Stream size : 22,9 KiB (0%) Language : Italiano Default : No Forced : No Testo #3 ID : 6 Format : UTF-8 Codec ID : S_TEXT/UTF8 Codec ID/Info : UTF-8 Plain Text Duration : 53 min 26s Bit rate : 79 b/s Count of elements : 761 Stream size : 31,2 KiB (0%) Language : Inglese Default : No Forced : No I have renamed my external subtitle in xxx.ita.forced.default.srt (In your wiki is not present "forced" and "Default" togheter but it works). If i play the MKV, it will start with the internal subtitle selected. If i click on the "cc" button this will popup: SUBTITLES: Off ita default forced (selected) ita Eng ita default forced Now there is another bug. If i select the last "ita default forced", no subtitle is selected (if click on "cc", "Off" is selected). I need to select another time the last "ita default forced" and now subtitles are displayed on my TV.
Luke 37118
Make sure you run a library scan after renaming files. Then if they're not showing up, please see how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
