Completed Play Next on Latest Show click

Hi,

 

I have the Latest TV Shows row on my homescreen, which is really usefull, cause often I see content there faster than in the Next Up section for some reason.

BUT... When I click the play option in the Latest TV Shows section it starts playing S01E01, which is really annoying..
The upside is: after that the show is definitely the first item in my Next Up section so I can easily find it then.
But it would be amazing if you could make the onClick action for the play button in Latest TV Shows play the next up episode.

Let me know what you think.

Hi.  Which app are you using?

 

The Android TV, Fire TV, Roku and Apple TV apps should do what you expect here.  We need to be sure the others do as well.

Ah sorry forgot about that.
I tested this on the web interface, the web app and the Windows Theater app with the described result
On the Android Mobile and iPad app, there is no play option and I just open the show overview page, which has a next up section of its own, so that's fine.
I could test the Shield TV later today if necessary.

+1 for this, thought android apps did use this behaviour at some point (might just be confused), but would be nice if it indeed plays next up instead of the first available episode

+2 for this, I have been getting dupped for a while now clicking latest in a TV series and ended up watching Episode1.  I am using the web app.  But overall very pleased!

I know the Roku does this.  Might be a issue on Library-Shows though on the Roku.  I get playback error. (.190)

 

But the Web Client plays the first episode, not the next up episode.  Clicking play on the series from anywhere in the web client plays episode 1 (Home Screen-Latest, Library-Shows, Folders).

Commented in other topic but the database error is gone in .17 but still get playback error on Series (Enter TV library-Shows and click play button on a Series)  (Roku)

Can confirm. On the Web UI it doesn't play the first "Next Up" episode of the show, when clicking on it in the "Latest" category on the Home screen.

I'm running Emby Server 4.2.1.0 on a Synology NAS.

Does this work in the latest 4.3 Beta and if so, is there a date for the official release of 4.3?

 

EDIT: Works in 4.3.0.30 for me!
