Can't play music collection. Playback Error - No compatible streams

Recommended Posts

I'm new to Emby and just installed it on an early 2008 Mac Pro. I'm running server version 3.5.3.0. I created a collection of Music and when I attempted to play or shuffle it using the Apple TV app, nothing happened. If I attempted to play it using the web app, I received: "Playback Error - No compatible streams". Using both apps, I can play albums from the collection fine.

I saw a similar thread from early Nov, https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/64931-collections-playback-error-no-compatible-streams/  but there was an answer that said this would be fixed in the next version, which I assume has come out. Also, that thread was for Linux and concerned Movie Collections.

Any idea what's wrong?

Hi, this is resolved for the next release of Emby Server.  For now you should just play from the music library directly. Thanks !

Thank you!  Is there a timeframe or version number to look out for?

It will be at least version 3.6. Hopefully soon. Thanks.

I'm on 4.0.2.0 and the problem still exists, with all my collections. It there a timeline when the fix will be released?

In a music section of my Emby installation, collections are presented together with albums. When I click on each of the albums inside a collection, they play without error. When I click on the collection itself, I expect the first album inside the collection to be played. Instead, the UI presents an error, stating "No compatible streams available". The logs, starting from the moment I click on the collection, appear to contain nothing really helpful, even though I had turned on debug logging:

The problem occurs consistently over all collections and regardless of the client I use.

Is there any other information I can give you that might help?

Thanks that's helpful. @@Happy2Play can you reproduce this?

Yes, if you multi select a couple albums and add to a collection they try to play that collection you get.

Yea this is just a tricky example, albums inside of collections. It's on my list for review. Thanks.
