blumamba 10 Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 I have a htpc set up running win10 and emby theater. The server is on another win10 pc set up with the server app. I have had a problem in the past where movies with multi parts stopped playing, like Lord of the Rings. I would use the naming scheme The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) part1 or The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) part 1 while emby renames it The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)part1 and not one of them displays or plays the second part. This happens on any multi part movie/video. What am I missing? Thanks
Luke 40077 Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 Hi, this hasn't been added to Theater yet. We will get there, but for best results I would suggest joining the files. Thanks !
blumamba 10 Posted December 6, 2018 Author Posted December 6, 2018 Thanks for your response. I will patiently wait its arrival. I am curious as to where that is in the priority line?
Luke 40077 Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 It's hard to say. On the one hand it is a basic, so you'd think it would be high. On the other hand, it's something that very few users need nowadays, and that's why we keep bumping it for later.
FrostByte 5257 Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 (edited) If the files are mkv or mp4 then mkvtoolnix/mkvmerge can join the files in just a few minutes. No reencoding needed, just places the two movies in a new mkv container. I did this with LoTR and Ben-Hur and it works out great. Edited December 7, 2018 by FrostByte
blumamba 10 Posted December 7, 2018 Author Posted December 7, 2018 Thanks Luke. For the record I use for mostly the extras or if its a 2 part movie like LOTR, in some cases where there are just multiple shorts. Just a thought, naming a short "short 1" "short 2" to distinguish between extras and "part 1" "part 2" for main movies so emby will play the movie automatically and the shorts can be selected manually from a thumb. I will give it a try frostbyte. 1
