BillOatman 575 Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 Any chance of being to watch emby video content on the echo show at some point?
Luke 40137 Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 Hi, what about using the Emby web app? http://app.emby.media
BillOatman 575 Posted October 26, 2018 Author Posted October 26, 2018 Oh, right you are. I had no idea they had added a browser to that thing! Thanks!
tvinhas 14 Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 It would be cool to ask "Alexa, play Law and Order" and it starts playing at the Echo Show 1
ebr 15679 Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 I believe it is in-progress but requires a full and legit SSL setup for the server. 1

Sammy 786 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Is this working? Do I need an SSL server? Thanks.
PlexUser128 1 Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 This would be a big deal for emby if it could be accomplished. I'd prefer to be able to access and watch my media server on my echo show, has this been tested and implemented yet? It's been over a year. How can we move this along? I can do testing, let me know what you need.
Sammy 786 Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 I am pretty sure that Amazon does not want the competition to their pay for Prime service. Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk
PlexUser128 1 Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 (edited) Regardless, Emby could integrate their api into the skill and provide full server access on the echo show. There are already other skills which have similar atttributes available. For example, CBSN skill streams free live streaming content to the echo show, as do many others already, like Watch TV with Stream Player or My Media skills. Neither requires prime, or cable subsc.. It's only a matter of time until this avenue opens up on the show. Maybe emby doesn't have the vision or talent to do this, maybe plex will beat them to it. I'm just saying, it would be great to have this available. Edited November 2, 2019 by xfectivus

All of the options you listed above are streaming content to all users from a single source. That is how devices like the Echo Show are designed but that is not how Emby works. We stream content to people from their own (many times local) source. That is not what the device is designed to do so it becomes a bit of a harder nut to crack. Thanks.
Sammy 786 Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 Oddly I had a browser window show on my Echo Show the other day with the login to an internal web GUI device showing. I couldn't log in even though I tried as I couldn't figure out how to get a keyboard to type in the credentials. Could a local Emby Server be run through a browser window on the Echo Show? It is a novel idea as the Echo Show at our house is in the kitchen which overlooks the Family Room and that is where to watch TV.. Others may not have this scenario though.
Sammy 786 Posted November 7, 2019 Posted November 7, 2019 @@ebr These guys make local ip cams viewable on Echo Show. I use their app all the time without issue. Can Emby do something similar? https://monoclecam.com/ Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk

These types of devices talk through the cloud, not on your local network. 1

ebr 15679 Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 It also requires a working https setup on the server so, until that becomes more automatic and easier to do (we're working on it) this will probably wait.
PlexUser128 1 Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 (edited) Go to Echo Show>Settings>Device Options>Web Options. Choose a Web Browser Have Echo Show open chosen web-browser Type in your In-Home (LAN) access: address (Make sure the Echo Show is on the same network as the server) I was able to load access to the web-interface and watch my content. I haven't used the voice controls or attempted to play music to my everywhere group yet, will update if that all works. Edited November 8, 2019 by xfectivus 1
Sammy 786 Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 Works great although a few clicks to get there. I didn't realize there was a browser built-in to the Echo Show. I'm going to try starting it by speech now. Thanks. Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk
