Android notification sound looping when doing sync

Since last update, when I use the sync feature, android sound notification is looping during the entire sync process.  This is quite annoying.

 

hardware: Nexus 6P on Android 8.1.0 security update February 5th.

 

Emby client version 2.9.86

have you enabled sounds for notifications? we are not explicitly requesting a sound to be played.

the updated app also triggers notification sound 2 to 3x whenever u play any video or song.

 

Android 8.1 changed something in how notifications work on the back end.  It broke many apps.

 

I use PowerAmp as my main music player and sadly, they haven't updated it to fix notifications.

I use the app with default settings.  I did not change anything about notification in the app.

 

When the sync job starts, a progress status notification appears in the android notification system.  The notification sound is looping until the job is completed.  Then the progress status notification disappears from the android notification system and the notifications sound loop stops.

I was syncing some videos the other day and noticed my phone crashing. I didn't realise it was related to Emby, but I'm wondering now if it was, and possibly related to this.

It's not related to the notification sound, no.

Did you release this fix? I just tried to sync new content and it still doing the notifications loop. Seem to happen when selecting "original" content. So no transcoding.

Yes it is resolved but since the notification channel is already created on your device you may have to edit it in system settings to disable the sound.

I've just installed Emby 2.9.92 on my phone and I'm experiencing this bug too.

 

The app constantly generates notification alerts during a sync.
