Ah, interesting info, thanks.

Hope it can be sorted out, would really prefer to use the emby app.

We are looking into it, thanks.

I hope you guys have a 4K setup for testing, because that seems to be causing the problems.

My setup consist of 2 possible output routes for showing Emby content from my Apple TV 4K.

1) 4K TV

2) 1080P projector

I have an 6x2 HDMI matrix switch and I just found a RE-PRODUCIBLE way when the problem occurs that the Emby app becomes unresponsive.

It only happens in my setup when the ATV 4K is set to output to 4K, with no auto adjust to refresh and dynamic range is set. When I set the ATV 4K to 1080SDR with no auto adjust to refresh and dynamic range, then the problem with unresponsiveness of the Emby app does NOT occur !!

Tonight I noticed that the problems only occurred on my 4K TV and NOT on my 1080p projector.

Can you please be more specific about these settings? When the problem occurs what's the value of 'Format', 'Match Dynamic Range', and 'Match Frame Rate'?

Just to give you an idea my Apple TV 4K currently has Format set to '4K HDR', 'Match Dynamic Range' to 'On' and 'Match Frame Rate' to 'Off' and I don't experience any application hangs.

Please re-start the app and see if you can still reproduce this.

Thanks.

@@ebr, I assume the app should update to 1.1.12 with a restart, because that is not the case here.

Also, because there are no beta's out, so the ATV app I use is from the main branch.

I did not change the version number.

Can you still reproduce the problem after a full restart of the app?

Yes, I can still reproduce the problem with the movie that I mentioned earlier in this post: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/54161-embedded-subtitle-troubles/&do=findComment&comment=534089

Tested some other movies from my library and they seem fine for now and work in 4KSDR 50, with auto adjust set to off for both dynamic range and framerate.

Before other movies made the Emby app also unresponsive, but that isn't the case anymore. So it might be interesting for you guys to check why that movie crashes the app.

All of the files I have tested are working now, thank you. No crashes in the hour or so I tested. Can you say what the issue was? Just curious.

Thanks for the feedback. I believe it was something related to text in the pulldown menu.

This started happening again to  me tonight. Same symptoms.

Can you please create a new thread with details?  It won't be the same thing as this was fixed and the app hasn't changed in several days.

Apple TV app crashes again with server 3.2.70.15 and 1.1.13 beta with same symptoms described in this topic.

Content from this post won't show chapter info during play and can't be paused anymore, when no subtitles are selected before play. Sound keeps playing when force closing app, so its a complete crash.

In the app, Playback Settings for subtitle selection is set to Never for above symptoms.

I also got double subtitles back with other content, but will post that in already available topic.

Is this with strm files or a local video file?

Posted (edited)

Local movie content emby library, no strm content.

Edit:

Apple TV set to 1080SDR 50 with NO adjustments set to dynamic range or refresh

Edit 2:

App crashes only with mentioned movie linked in this topic. All other local movie content plays fine.

Can we see the specifics for that item?

Screen shots of the detail page from the web app may lend a clue.

Thanks.

Thanks, but I'm interested in all the metadata related to the item - including things like chapters and their titles etc.

Or, if you just want to look for yourself, scour all text information related to this item for anything containing an '&'...

I mean the actual detail page in the web app that shows all the information about the movie including cast and chapter tiles etc.  Do you see any text anywhere on that page with an '&' in it?

No, the only "&" I can find is from "Cast & Crew" on that page.

This should be fixed in the current beta (force restart the app).
