File not available error

Hi,

I'm getting the following error while playing a file, specifically this file listed below. The others seem to work fine. Playing it through Emby directly (web browser doesn't give any problems).

Could anyone give me a hand fixing this please?

The log file:

hi there, for starters i would suggest installing the latest version of emby server from the website, on top of your existing version. thanks !

Problem still exists. I tried resetting the database and it helped for a few shows, but at least one other show (Grey's Anatomy) still doesn't work and returns the 'file not available' error.

Playing directly through the web interface gives me no problems.

The webclient is not a good reference in this situation. The issue is Kodi cannot find your files using the paths provided by Emby.

smb://x.x.x.10/Maxime/Series/Grey's Anatomy/Season 14/Grey's Anatomy - 14x04 - Ain't That a Kick in the Head.mkv

Is this valid? You can compare to what Kodi would expect via kodi > addons > install add-on from zip > smb > navigate to your files, compare the path displayed. Make it match if it doesn't match.

Since you are using native playback, you'll need to repair your database or just reset to update the paths, if that was the issue.

Hi, it is valid actually. But I noticed Emby randomly just doesn't work for some series. Sometimes I repair and one works again, but a different one doesn't. There's no logic to it. They all used to work before

You have a client timeout setup for samba connections in your advancedsettings, could it be possible it's going idle and then Kodi can't find your content?

Are you able to navigate from kodi addons > install from zip > navigate to your content without an issue? Does that make it work within your library if you do that?

I can navigate to the folders just fine, no problems there. But I don't see any samba setting in my advancedsettings file?

I've tried resharing the folder (and changing the rights), I've tried resetting and reparing the database multiple times but no luck. The damn thing just doesn't want to play the files.

I looked a bit quickly, the samba setting seems to be part of the default advancedsettings.

I'd say, maybe it's this add-on interfering (service.autosubs)? Try disabling it and restarting Kodi to be safe. Does it help any?

I can confirm Kodi actually sees your file, so the path provided by emby for kodi is correct.

I have disabled it and rebooted it but it didn't work unfortunately.

It worked fine again a few days ago (after a few resets) but now it stopped working again for some shows (random). I think it might be the metadata refresh, which I did 1 or 2 days ago.

Movies seem to give no problems (but I have quite a few so I'm not entirely sure), and I haven't refreshed the metadata of those.

Well, I'm not familiar with your setup, but if direct paths are giving you such difficulty, why not use http paths instead? Change the playback mode to addon, in the addon settings and reset/resync. The server provides the file to Kodi, as is, so that Kodi doesn't need to find your files...
