NightwingDG 10 Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 I've got everything playing fine on my Blu-ray player through DLNA but I can't rewind or fast forward at all. It keeps saying "This operation is currently prohibited" every time I try to do so. Any idea why? Thanks!
Luke 39386 Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 I'm guessing that's when video is transcoding right?
NightwingDG 10 Posted November 13, 2017 Author Posted November 13, 2017 Yep. It's an MKV file if that helps.
Luke 39386 Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 When it transcodes that is currently expected, at least to my knowledge. It might be possible to send the player another transcoding format that might be seekable, I just haven't tested it yet.
NightwingDG 10 Posted November 13, 2017 Author Posted November 13, 2017 The videos are showing as MPEG on the blu-ray player. Is there a way to change the format to something else? How can I experiment with this? This is what I have right now...
NightwingDG 10 Posted November 14, 2017 Author Posted November 14, 2017 No, they're AVC video files but in MKV container.
Luke 39386 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 The default transcoding container is mkv. The reason it is showing mpeg is because it appears you have customized the profile to try and use HLS, and that's just what the device happens to show as the content type. HLS is a seekable transcoding format, but as of yet i have not tested it with dlna.
NightwingDG 10 Posted November 16, 2017 Author Posted November 16, 2017 I see. I experimented with HTTP and HTTP Live but no luck with seeking on either of them. I'm gonna try and change the default transcoding format and see if it works. I can change the default MKV, right? To something like MP4?
Luke 39386 Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 According to your screenshot above it looks like you already did change the default transcoding format. I do actually have a very similar model for testing purposes but mkv is the only transcoding format i've tested with. It works just fine with the one caveat that it's not seekable.
NightwingDG 10 Posted November 16, 2017 Author Posted November 16, 2017 Hmmm, so there is no way around it? Another issue I ran to is the media ending 2 minutes early. I got it to work once but I don't remember what I changed.
Luke 39386 Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 For a future release we can try to look at moving the sony bluray transcoding profile to hls. Thanks.
